Ok, lets make the (Wild) assumption that Scousers actually work.

My issue with the mass testing in Liverpool is are they really expecting people to freely put themselves forward for testing despite showing no symptoms knowing that if they test positive they will have to isolate and lose income for 10 days.

There was a report last week that there were huge numbers of people failing to isolate even though they or a family member showed symptoms. And the main reason was that people could not afford time off work, this was one of the considerations behind cutting the isolation period from 14 days to 7.

Of course I focus on the numbers that get ill, it’s the most relevant piece of data, especially when the justification for lockdowns is to ‘protect our NHS’ . In fact back in April it was all we focused on. You focus to little on the % of people who have don’t have difficulties when contracting it, thus form the narrative the end of the world is nigh.
Again, it is about stopping the spread , that stops all the rest , it really isnt difficult to understand

NHS England to enter its highest alert level from midnight tonight. They are expecting patient numbers to overtake the April peak in multiple areas shortly.

As noted in the NHS numbers yesterday the NW is very likely to exceed that peak number of 2890 today. As it was up to 2845 yesterday.

That is not good but not surprising , to me anyway

My lad lost 9 days pay. SSP only

Sir Simon announced the level was being raised after he said there are "22 hospitals' worth" of coronavirus patients in hospitals in England. He said there had been a "very substantial" increase in "desperately sick patients in hospitals" in October.

"In many parts of the country we're now seeing more coronavirus inpatients in hospital and in intensive care than we saw in the first peak in April," he added.

You focus too much on the numbers that get ill, we can ALL catch it and spread it , my cat has to be vaccinated before a cattery would take her for even a one night stay and to get her insured , it is mad that humans dont have to be for the sake of everyone , vaccines are the safest thing you can have and they are not live
Correct Kaz.
Its not just the numbers, its also the level of risk for those infected.
If, like me, you are over 70 with a high level of immuno suppressant drugs taken, you are less likely to survive. So I support mass immunisation!
See also need to protect NHS and effect on treatments for other problems.

i think it is very selfish to refuse a vaccine during a pandemic just because you might not get ill, nobody can guarntee that after all, we have to all take care of each other

People think you old at 70 when 70 is the new 50's these days

Well RA has reduced me physically to a shambling wreck, but in my head, I'm a young whippersnapper!

That’s up to the individual

That’s a grim read.
Looks like you were right when you raised the issue of the lack of critical appraisal of the First Minister’s performance, or lack of.
A population of 5.4 million with only two largish conurbations and a death rate twice the size of England’s, despite the longer and harsher lock downs the Scots have endured.

Well it will be useful to know how this pans out. If people put themselves forward, and test positive, you would hope, at the very least, they modify their behaviour to some extent, even if not full isolation. But I do sympathise. When my daughter had a test earlier this year, we all had a sleepless night worrying how we would cope if it was positive. I’m self employed and would have earned nothing, plus let a lot of people down. My other half is front line NHS and was needed so badly at work. My sons salary would have been 20% down, as they take off shift allowance. Thankfully she was negative.

can you outline why you think the covid vaccine should work any differently to the flu jab? i.e. targeted at over 65s, those with certain health conditions, pregnant women, carers, NHS staff and finally 50-64 year olds?

im interested as i know you have an NHS background from what youve said on here

Well you dont get that it is stopping the spread that is the key thing so you wouldnt agree with me , it is our duty to protect each other

I do get that, but I don’t think locking everyone away until a vaccine can be forced on them is a nice or a good way. It is also completely unheard of in human history and mankind has faced way worse virus / disease than this.

Is that how it works over there? Over here everybody is encouraged to get the flu jab.

hmm, it's not quite "dont bother if youre not this" but it's not actively pushed to what might be considered the 'healthy mob'

According to the Telegraph today GP surgeries are all to be notified this week to prepare plans for a vaccine to be administered to some at risk patients before Christmas - though current expectation is for the first weeks of 2021 they want them to be prepared as a pre Christmas start remains possible.
According to the Times they have also agreed the extra pay GPS will get for administering the vaccine.
Is there anything these greedy fuckers actually do for their salaries?
