Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

That was just a nothingburger match imho...Sterling was terrible, kev full of mistakes(maybe time catching up with him?), gundo and rodri utterly annonymous, bernado did nothing, Kyle walker is just all physicality and lacking brain.

The only standouts were laporte, dias, and cancelo(who was motm for me). Gabby did ok and scored a belter but what else was there after that?

I remember one of the first interviews pep did when he came he mentioned mentality, well he needs to take a look at his team and himself and start asking serious questions. This is suppost to be a winning team...not one that gutlessly sits off for a draw, at home, against a team without their main defender, and with a meandering CB on a yellow for a huge chunk of the game.

This city team is in desperate need of real pace and trickery. Sterling has a turn of pace but has zero confidence it seems and his decisions on the ball are awful. Also rodri position is still a big problem...he's workmanlike at best nothign more. We need real talent there and wingers who can actual run and be a threat.

Shocked at the match tbh we were like a wilting spinach leaf.

EDIT: Bah, i should have put this in the post match thread really.
Appreciated

There is a slight problem with de bruyne in 2nd halves getting tired.

agree perhaps he wasnt at it during lockdown...i imagine some players(gabby) kept working hard at home. Others not so much...

Maybe if he buys a fast pivot midfielder in January to dislodge gundo but if he doesn’t then can’t see it this season . Still really fucked off with sterling’s performance today . Shocking absolute shocking performance
He's more likely to sell his daughter to one of them grooming rings in Taken than replace Gundogan

They took us by surprise for 30 minutes but we worked it out and they tired. I think that the game was for the taking but we picked the wrong pass too often. The first half was outstanding and both teams are on another level to the rest of the league playing like that. Cancelo & Jesus were the pick of the players.

This was a fantastic chess game. Both managers reacting to each other’s formation. In the end both couldn’t force checkmate.

Some of Pep's team selections drive me mad, but I desperately want him to stay for another 2 or 3 seasons. The Eric Garcia situation is too puzzling for my tiny brain to cope with. A manager who hasn't publicly said he will extend his own contract wants a disliked player, who doesn't want to be here, to extend his stay. And I thought 3-2-1 was baffling. Then we have the Raheem Sterling situation. Who exactly wants to give him a big pay rise ? If Pep is staying and wants to give Sterling a new contract, fair enough. The nightmare situation would be Pep leaving and the next manager inheriting a player, he doesn't want, on crazy money. The promising Dias/Laporte partnership and the wealth of talented young players we have coming through will hopefully persuade Pep to make the right decision.

He's lost his verve, that ambition and drive. Just going through the motions. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the squad are a bit fed up and want a change too.

Honestly believe it's Pep's last season, doesn't look the same manager he was in his first 3 season's when he would kick every ball from the touchline, he had an abundance of energy and enthusiasm, a determination, a will to win, I don't see that same Pep on the touchline now.

Gives me no pleasure to say that btw, just saying what I believe.

I think he will, and I think it's obvious he will. He's emphatically stamped on the Barca links, and it's obvious watching us play he's changing our tactics and set ups and evolving. Will it be successful we wait & see, but I don't think Pep would be doing it if he wasn't staying on.
Christ. The thought that this is intentional makes it even worse. I prefer thinking he’s lost the plot rather than believing this is an intentional change of tactics.

He looks tired and bored and so does his team.

I can understand his lack of passion and feeling football in these crazy covid times, but that is no good for MCFC.

Covid is not going away, crowds won't be coming to a stadium anytime soon, playing every 3 days, little time on the training ground.

It is what it is, if Pep is not happy with that, time to move on!

If that is the case, then the problem isnt pep, or the players. Getting rid of either won't make covid go away.

My humble opinion is if he signs fine but if doesn’t then that’s fine aswell because we will wi titles regardless of pep being here . Be better when we get another striker and a faster pivot midfielder who can cover space

It does seem to be about passion at the minute. The whole team seem sad.

maybe covid is having a real impact on clubs especially with no fans.

pep just seems to be a lonely man at the club for some reason to me.

I`m afraid it`s looking more and more inevitable.

It's not Peps fault we have not been clinical this season. Missed some clear chances. We had a penalty and 2 very clear chances (Sterling & Jesus)

The problem lies with I'd say lack of recruitment with a goal scorer and a midfield general to replace Ferna. Who knows if Pep will stay or not, but we will still have the same problems around finishing. Be good to understand how wasteful we are compared to other teams.

I see we drop a couple of points, and all the body language experts are out. Of course they aren't happy, these are elite sportmen playing in empty stadiums,it's bound to impact on adrenaline and performance, doubt any players or managers at the top clubs are particularly enjoying their jobs.
City and Pep aren't uniquie in that. Anyone expecting business as usual this season whoevers in charge are ignoring the reality of this season.
Pretty sure he be with us next season and with crowds back everyone will be happier.

I think the main problem is pep needs an energetic assistant manager that helps keep his fire burning. Someone that challenges his decisions and gives him a mental chess game. Would pep be like this if Arteta had stayed
