It will take longer to get rid of this nightmare. Just been to post some parcels. About 7 customers in the shop of which 4 were unmasked. Fairly young people too. The particular shop is notorious for it.

Joint Committee on Vaccination’s recommended priority list for vaccination programme published on Sky.
If this is implemented most posters on here won’t be seeing a vaccine any time soon!

  1. Older adults' resident in a care home and care home workers
  2. All those 80 years of age and over and health and social care workers
  3. All those 75 years of age and over
  4. All those 70 years of age and over
  5. All those 65 years of age and over
  6. High-risk adults under 65 years of age
  7. Moderate-risk adults under 65 years of age
  8. All those 60 years of age and over
  9. All those 55 years of age and over
  10. All those 50 years of age and over
  11. Rest of the population (priority to be determined)

There isn't a rushed vaccine, they all have to go through the exact same scrutiny and clinical trials process or else they won't be approved.

The announcements today are purely about effectiveness and the safety results haven't been disclosed yet.

They won't release anything that's remotely unsafe because so many people of all ages, demographics and health conditions will be given it.
Why then are Astra Zeneca and other companies demanding, and getting, indemnification against litigation for their vaccine before they will sell it to a country?

Did they seriously need a committee to decide that care home residents are at most risk and the order of priority for getting the vaccine starts with the oldest and goes down in stages from there?

No wonder it takes us forever to get things done if something anyone on here could probably have written in 5 minutes needed meetings and debate to turn into a list that can then be leaked.

It isn’t that simple.
A lot of people argue the opposite.
Vaccinate the young working population first for the sake of the economy and shelter the old, non productive members of society.
We have only ordered 30 million doses.

Agree. Although I’m surprised students aren’t on the list seeing as they seem to be superspreaders.

Yes, though myself would have number 6 a bit higher priority.

Refuse it then.

You're then first in line for getting COVID, with the potential long term issues associated, and also making it more likely that others will by reducing herd immunity.

Nice one.

I do wonder if some countries will make covid vaccination a condition of entering. I think a lot of the people refusing to have one now might find it limits on where they might be welcome in the future. This new found fad for distrusting vaccines might end up being parked when people realise they can't go to Spain or whatever anymore.

Of course they do. Who else decides? You can't have one person deciding something like this.

For someone who is so methodical on stats and has been the most prominent poster on this thread, i'm surprised you don't think a working group/committee is needed on a decision on vaccine order in a pandemic regardless of how simple and the obvious answer will be.

Just messaged my Mother and said the same thing, as #6 would apply to her. With Lupus, her immune system is poor, getting this would be a big risk

Not sure if serious
