TV Series

I didnt make it past series 2 on westworld. That really felt like they had no idea at all what they were doing with it long term and looked nailed on to be cancelled. Did you stick with it? Worth watching s3?
Not in the slightest worth it. If you thought s2 was bad, S3 is appaling. Hardly even felt like the same show. As bad as OA s2, which after a promising first season got cancelled

I think you're being a bit harsh on s2. s3 does just seem to drift. Nice to see Dolores (or rather, Evan Rachel Wood) in slinky dresses. That's about it.

Really enjoyed The Queen’s Gambit.

Couldn't agree more. And that's set me thinking about limited series. They may be the way to go. Even series that you really like seem to be treading water and be repetitious, sooner or later, I find. A five or seven-episode series has a tightness and direction to it. My opinion, anyway.

The liberator. Read the description and thought it sounded decent then was disappointed to see it was animated as it started. Was going to switch off but glad I didn’t.
Really enjoyed it, based on the true story of Felix Sparks a US soldier in WW2 who saw some gruesome action whilst leading a group of misfits who became heroes. He was also among the very first people to stumble into Dachau concentration camp.
On Netflix.

If you enjoy fantasy swords and magic, check out "The Witcher" on Netflix - surprisingly good. I can't wait for season 2.

4 episodes in. Enjoying it but fuck me, being a black youth in America back then was a dangerous position to be in.
Sadly, not much better these days in some States.
It’s actually worse pal, incarceration rates going up for black youths.... reading a book at the moment called ‘the new Jim Crow’, there is an evolution of corruption, where as once it would be the norm to go the full hog in stitch ups (geared by $$$), the new narrative is misdemeanours and taking advantage of the bail system, up front money, rather than the long game, which is invariably breached ..... that country is fucked, mass incarceration which still targets the lowest socio-economic groups and it’s getting worse!

I managed through series 2 and quite enjoyed it albeit not in the same league as season 1. I had 3 taped and was going to watch it over christmas. Is it really that bad?

Westworld? yeah, 3 is absolutely terrible. As some have reacted earlier, S2 isn't that bad (i dont think i was particularly harsh on it myself, reading it back), a step down from 1 and not as good, a bit lost, but by no means a disaster. S3 though, big fail for me. Whole other show. If i am being honest, i wouldn't taint the earlier 2 seasons with it.

Back to Dark, i will indeed stick with it. must be hardbfor writers, not knowing how many seasons they will get, to control how much they reveal and when if what they really intend (if indeed they do) so i'll go with what a few here say and stay positive for it as a whole peice of which i am only a third through.

Billions. Have enjoyed watching it from the beginning but it's basically Game of Thrones in suits. I thought it was a bold move to introduce a major non-binary character, but I'm finding I'm becoming less sympathetic as the series has progressed. Something about the constant lack of emotion. Anyway, team Axe for me as Chuck is a fucking weasel.
Every character is the same, they all talk in similes all the time - often using some obscure fact to prove how much cleverer than the audience they are - it's like an A-level English student wrote the dialogue. Started off okay but the late switches in the plot-lines so as to drag to another series was too obvious, it needed drawing to a close after 2 seasons and then move onto a new set of characters.
