Please God don't f..k this up as well.
My daughter has been told she should be done by Christmas.(first dose at least)Will be interesting to see how many NHS staff can be vaccinated in the coming month(s). I appreciate the U.K. will have low stocks, but there will surely be a need to protect those workers facing the predicted wave in January.
The government have got lots wrong during this pandemic but I suspect things wouldn't have been hugely different regardless of who was in charge as the UK is a very ill disciplined country. That is something for the politics thread. However, they have done a great job of identifying the best potential vaccines and ensuring the risk was spread by pre ordering different ones. We do a good job of distributing the flu vaccine annually via GP surgeries, pharmacies etc (I had my first ever flu jab recently) so I expect that with the extra resources that will be allotted the mass vaccination programme will be far quicker than many expect.
The wagon carrying the vaccines will get stuck at Kent due to them not getting the Brexit deal sorted in time...Please God don't f..k this up as well.
Where i work, we was one of 5 north west companies to store a shit load of ppe, till the NHS found a warehouse of there own. All got took away a few months ago. And i do mean a shit load. Pallet after pallet with boxes piled high. Unlikely they will run out this time imo.The roll out will involve people with expertise from the annual flu vaccine plus the military, who have a successful track record distributing PPE.
The main issue with PPE was letting stocks deplete and then being faced with unprecedented demand. The vaccines will have a phased distribution which is more doable logistically. There may be the odd hiccup but things are definitely moving in the right direction.
Not sure immunity is immediate but several weeks afterThere really is no downer on this news, if you think there is it's just your bias against the Gov.
It's been grim beyond measure, but from middle of Jan the first people in the roll out will have had both jabs and be immune, that's fantastic news in anyones book.
Hopefully by the end of March everyone in at risk groups will be fully vaccinated and immune.
No other countries will be in that position.
At that point we really do need to regulate people coming into the countryThere really is no downer on this news, if you think there is it's just your bias against the Gov.

2 weeks after apparently. Not sure immunity is immediate but several weeks after
Exciting news when the Country most needs a lift.2 weeks after apparently.
Same to all of the above. (Though I’m fitting in 27 holes)Woohoo
brilliant this is great news.
A good morning.
Playing golf as well today
I presume you mean they'll jump the queue, because in theory everyone should get it. If they get it done privately, I'm not that fussed personally - that would save tax payers the costGreat news about the vaccine.
I have one fear about this Pfizer jab and that is that a portion of it will go to the rich/elite and their families. Hopefully just my paranoia but i don't want Rupert or Eugenie getting it before the vulnerable and those who look after them.
Who cares right now about hypothetical conspiracies?Great news about the vaccine.

I don't think it should be viewed as a race so to speak, all of the vaccines have their own merits. For example the Oxford/AZ vaccine is far more suitable for administration in the community because it's easier to store and we don't see this as important at the moment but it's also a lot cheaper.Fair fucks. I've said all along I felt the Oxford/AZ vaccine would 'win' the race so to speak and dependent on supply issues we may still be dosed with that version but in this case I'm happy to be wrong.
What a colossal effort by everyone involved and fair play to Pfizer/BioNTech, their dossier must have been excellent and they clearly didn't get any regulatory push back. Exciting.
