Regionally the hospital news is good - if you are in the NW.

P Patients V Ventilators across FRI/SAT/SUN v Last Sunday.

LONDON

P 1487 / 1536 / 1591 v 1504 last Sun

V 249 / 238 / 242 v 260 last Sun

MIDLANDS

P 2721 / 2751 / 2802 v 2860 last Sun

V 258 / 245 /259 v 286 last Sun

The England rises coming from down south and Midlands . London now the closest it has ever been to NW numbers.

As the daily deaths show Midlands is currently by some way the area with the most patients and ventilators - but even here is down on last week.

YORKSHIRE

P 2493 / 2420 / 2468 v 2762 last Sun.

V 175 / 169 / 172 v 204 last Sun

AND NORTH WEST

P 2304 / 2240 / 2201 v 2444 last Sun - 24 Oct last time 2201 in hospital

V 181 / 181 / 167 v 198 last Sun - 167 is well behind the other 3 regions now and 19 Oct last time NW had this few on ventilators.

So Health Care wise London v NW - London clearly going in the opposite directions to NW. And a higher proportion of ventilated patients in icu too.

Have relatives near Milan in Northern Italy. Just moved down from orange to yellow tier. Able to pop fir a quick cappuccino in a cafe for the first time in a long time.
He’s the bother of my ex: he had to celebrate his birthday on his own recently (they’re very strict over there).

I know they'll all be relatively low but, for example, how do todays figures of 1591 P & 242 V in London against the NW 2201 P & 167 V look in relation to POP scores?

Pop scores are only for cases not patient numbers. As in number of cases measured against 100,000 people. Both measures - this and patient numbers / icu capacity - are taken into account in the tiers.

I am not tracking every London borough. Maybe someone on here can post today's Pop scores for London boroughs if they know them.

The South East today had 2597 cases.

So London and the South East together had 5795 cases. That is up from 4475 for the two yeserday.

Eastern England had only 2 cases less than the NW too. Usually a fairly rural area.

So London and South East (mostly tier 2) at 5795 v NW, Yorks and W Midlands (mostly tier 3) at 4361.

The pandemic has moved south without question. One third of the UK Cases there. And Wales had more than the NW which has not happened in a long time either.

In fact Wales had more than every region in the north and midlands today.

this will be interesting come the review. Politically boris will be under lots of pressure not to put London into tier 3 in the last weeks before xmas but the numbers fully justify it.

together with the lowering of other tiers to 2 .

it will be interesting.

When will they trot out the old "we're testing more in those areas"? Can't imagine that's the case. I find it unlikely that London will be placed in tier 3 even though they should be. Logistically too difficult to control in such a big city. Shops and pubs yes but the movement of people hard

It is strange that despite their firebreak it is going up again , has to be compliance or it just spreads like wildfire in an unhealthy population , only covid knows , have to admire it in a medical sort of way , it does its job well, if it doesnt finish you off in your lungs then on it marches to your other organs and of course the fucking damage it does lingers

I get my ct and lung function results on tues by phone , gutted i cant see the ct scan in person , would love to see it , maybe i can get some stills emailed over

The Firebreak was only 17 days duration, so not long enough to suppress the rates in its Welsh heartland, ie the Valleys.

Then when the Firebreak was over they went to no restrictions at all across the whole of Wales. Instead, they should have instead kept Tier 3 type restrictions in the worst affected areas whilst places in mid Wales and North Wales had Tier 1 or 2 level restrictions.

The Welsh Government have let down the people living in the worst affected areas by being too lenient, whilst in the least affected areas they are creating additional economic hardship without justification.

Ah thanks , my impression was they had some kind of tiers after the firebreak

GM highlights today . Despite the big UK case rise - GM today is DOWN 89 on yesterday to 670. That is 44% of the North West total. Lowest in past week or two.

All six GM totals this week have been between 632 and 807.

Only Manchester over 100 today. 7 boroughs down on yesterday.

Trafford, Tameside and Stockport within 3 of one another.

Will post the full list and Pop Scores across the week in a bit.

Thank you for posting this. Genuinely been a bit bewildered by their case numbers recently in comparison to elsewhere but this makes sense.

Post firebreak minimal restrictions

GM SCOREBOARD

CASES 670 - 44% of NW TOTAL

3 wks to 2 wks to last wk v today:- 1838 v 1039 v 827 v 670

Manchester 154 – down from 179. Total cases 31, 926. Weekly 999. Hopefully not signalling an emergency. Pop score up 28 to 5775. Weekly Pop up 5 to 181.

Rochdale 97 - up from 70. Total cases 13, 072. Weekly 500. Pop score up 43 to 5877. Highest in GM today, One of highest in the north today. Weekly Pop down 9 to 224.

Wigan 85 – down from 105. Total cases 17, 061. Weekly 617. Pop score up 25 to 5193 Weekly Pop up 5 to 190.

Salford 57 – down from 68. Total cases 13, 673. Weekly 371. Pop score up 22 to 5283. Weekly Pop up 8 to 144. A lot of small Pop rises today as numbers were lower day to day last week.

Bolton 55 - down from 87. Total cases 15, 515. Weekly 483, Pop score up 19 to 5396. Weekly Pop down 5 to 168. Given where Bolton was in late Summer this is a huge improvement

Oldham 55 - down from 62. Total cases 15, 121. Weekly 376 . Pop score up 23 to 6377. But good day here as Blackburn had its highest score in a week and its Pop was up by 51 – most in the UK to 6683 – over 300 above Oldham now. Weekly Pop down 3 to 158.

Bury 49 – down from 77. Total cases 10, 109. Better day for Bury to lowest score this week. Weekly 428. Pop score up 26 – lowest in a few days - to 5293. Weekly Pop up 1 to 224. Hopefully arrested the slide.

Stockport 41 – down from 58, This is GM right now The bunching of these boroughs is how it used to be and a good sign of numbers normalising. Total cases 10, 815. Weekly 345. Pop score up 14 to 3686. Lowest in GM today. First time for a while Stockport has done that. Yet Weekly Pop up 2 to 118. Because it had only 37 cases last Sunday. But the Pop numbers in GM do seem to have begun to stall quite widely. Which is a warning sign to pay attention in coming days. It is much easier to go up from here as there a lot more numbers above 41 than below it.

Tameside 39 – up from 29. Total cases 10, 663. Weekly 295. Pop score up 17 to 4709. Weekly Pop sticks at 130.

Trafford 38 - up from 34. Best in GM again. Total cases 8882. Weekly 208. Increases lead as best weekly total over Tameside. Pop score up 16 to 3742. Weekly Pop stalls at 88. As we saw with Stockport with an even lower Pop score today a few cases can change low Pops by week to week comparison. Gap to Stockport rises to 30 on weekly pop but Stockport increases its lead for the overall Pop across the pandemic to 56. Just a blip in Trafford's quest to have both Pop records.

A quick question. Are the supporters that are allowed in stadiums this weekend required to wear masks. Just a question as I really don’t know. I did try to ask on the match’s at thread but it was like asking a chimp to split the atom. Ta.
