but from what i watched live. how can pep send out a team of 2 holding midfield and play 4 in defence ??
most of the game WBA had 10 men behind the ball and city and pep still had 4 players marking nobody on the half way line ??

like i said am going to watch the game again and see ? but its not good enough and i truly don't understand pep idea's in what he is fearing from WBA going forward ??

If we are playing two people in the pivot role then one of them has to be fast and mobile enough to move upfield to feed the forwards. We are just two slow in transition. Perhaps Pep should play Bernardo there. Rodri is essentially a new Gareth Barry. He can't move the ball fast enough. He would be good if we were defending a 2 goal lead away in Europe but not at home against West Brom.
It's amazing that Mendy is still getting into the team at all. His legs went two years ago. He would not get in any other PL team.

Absolutely pathetic.
it’s not great keeping by their keeper it’s our useless finishers heading it straight at him.
Mendy and Cancelo absolute dross. Like playing with 9 and we all know the issues with the 2 slow crabs in midfield with the front 3 no where near good enough and woefully out of form.
Top 4 is the realistic challenge this year, this team is spent

Agree with all that apart from lumping Gundog into the equation - he was probably the only lad that pushed himself and was unlucky not to be a match winner of a game we didn’t deserve to win.

Depressingly bad tonight. We laboured for 80 minutes then pushed hard at the end - fucking push hard from the start and get into a position where we can ease off. All on Pep....again.

Full backs were utter shite.
Worst performance by Rodri.
Jesus looked lost.
Foden trying too hard and ineffective.
Kev, no spark from him whatsoever.
Raz was meh.

We rarely take on players, or attack at speed. Is Pep trying to win the league playing at 70% intensity.

Having to bring on Walker tells its own story, and he actually improved us.

I like your positive take on things but I just feel that we’re relying on these few killer chances to win it but if we consistently miss them there seems to be no backup plan. I’m fine with somewhat dull football if we’re getting results but we have no plan B

I think that’s completely reasonable, and having seen our profligacy last season it may be a bit naïve of Pep to rely on us to take chances at the required frequency.

What we don’t know is how tired or unfocused or just plain fed up the players are, and how much that plays into our approach.

I know personally that right now I’m doing only what I need to do at work because I’m burnt out and exhausted by everything. This is their job, and it’s a dream job, but they have families and lives and hit the wall sometimes just like everyone else.

Gundog was great.. Rodri is a great player (as seen for Spain against Germany).. but.. we are set up managed horribly as of late.
