So basically you don't like Souness because he did an interview with The Sun 28 years ago after he had undergone major heart surgery.I fully get that others have a different opinion, but it is just that opinion...something formed by our lives and experience.
I loved watching Souness in his pomp and accept he was a top class player. Did well in Scotland and rebuilt Rangers. Maybe me being dismissive...OK very dismissive...but that was Scotland!
I think he did nothing really when he came back to Liverpool. The whole Sun interview thing coloured my view of him as did his whole politics and love of Thatcher.
I appreciate that he has apologised for the Sun interview but I still have that knowledge of who I see him as.
As a pundit I see him in the same mould as Keane, or dare I say it Neil Warnock or Eamon Dunphy, there to be contentious, to "say it like it is".
Much as I hate to admit it, I actually like Neville as a pundit
Like you say it's all about opinions and in my opinion that's very cult like behaviour.
If it looks like a cult, sounds like a cult and acts like a cult it's usually a cult which sums up your club and fans and their attitude to everyone who doesn't conform with your mantra.
It's also ironic that your lot bang on about hating the Tories when your club was founded by a landowner who became Tory Lord Mayor of your own city.
This is someone who has won trophies as a manager in 3 different countries and as a player won everything at club level and played for his country in major tournaments.
As a pundit he is universally respected and an interview with The Sun almost 3 decades ago discussing his health issues doesn't make him a bad pundit.
I won't even go there with Neville as the mask has slipped far too often with him to have any credibility, in my opinion of course!
