Greater Manchester not had a good day today. And if you live in Manchester or Stockport take care as todays numbers here are pretty bad for both.

Up 204 in the day to 997. Highest GM total in a month. Back up to 36% of NW total.

Stockport over 100 for first time in weeks. Manchester well over 200.

Everywhere else slightly up apart from Wigan which is doing extremely well and is now reversing the situation with Stockport in a big way.

Wigan was the BEST in GM today! Along with Bolton. Both on same score.

The two basket cases in August now top of the good numbers in GM. Be interesting if we can work out why.

Seems absurd that a couple of days ago Andy Burnham was talking about Stockport and Trafford being tier 2 (Trafford also had their worst numbers in a while today).

This wave is throwing up some very rapid changes of fortune.

Regional hospital details in England:

LONDON Patients up 192 in day to 3559 - 1066 up in past 7 days. Ventilators up 22 to 400 - up 108 in past 7 days.

MIDLANDS Patients up 58 to 3447. Ventilators down 2 to 252.

NE/YORKSHIRE Patients down 34 to 2496. Ventilators up 5 to 154.

And NORTH WEST

Patients up 7 to 2406 (was 2322 last week)

Ventilators down 12 to 153 (was 162). Below all the above regions and from over 100 more than London a month ago to 247 less is remarkable turnaround caused by this superspreading mutation there.
Sums up why we should have been locked down. Won't happen until we have London type figures.

Is there much point testing them with an incubstion period of covid? Even if they tested negative at the time of the test, they could still be carriers.

There are so many flaws in this idea we can allow air travel and do it ”safely”. It may have made sense at the time in an effort to keep tourism/airliners afloat, but it’s destroyed everything else.
But at least you may catch asymptomatic ones

it amazes me that people are still going on their jollies given the situation.
Seems like a very safe thing to do at the moment and cannot believe we missed out by a day. The Canary islands of Lanzarote and Fueteventura are a low risk factor for us oldies considering a 400 per 100,000 risk of staying here.

Lanzarote
Current active cases on the island – 42 .. Currently in Hospital – 1 ..Cases in ICU – 0 /
The infection rate per 100,000 over the last 7 days is 18 and below out governments recommendation of 20 per 100,000

Much better than having a bun fight in Primark

We should get one of these inflatable boats and charge £20 one way + all the beer we can drink.

Feel like shit. Just read this article and can’t help but feel the light at the end of the tunnel that appeared when the vaccine started being given out has now started to dim. Worried that the new forms of the virus will soon become immune to the vaccines leading us into an endless cycle of not being able to get back to normality.

By early next year we’ll probably see this:

On the Wirral staying in tier 2. Here are their past weeks numbers:

44 - 64 - 68 - 64 - 90 - 87 - 119

So of course they are in tier 2 as they are tripling,

But the government will be looking at last week as usual.

Either that or England is about to be renamed Wonderland and we do the opposite of the obvious.

If the apocalypse does happen and cats inherit the planet then at least Liverpool will still be in tier 2 so the government will sell that as proof the testing there worked.

Depends who you are flying with on your plane? Somebody might be positive but not have any symptoms, not worth the risk stay at home.

Heard a suggestion that not testing people before they get a vaccine could lead to us teaching the virus how we're trying to stop it and thus allowing it to mutate to be vaccine resistant. That's just gossip mind but echoes your sentiment.

Am I in T3 ?
From 00:01 on Boxing Day, Sussex, Oxfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, those parts in Essex not already in tier four, Waverley in Surrey, and Hampshire - including Portsmouth and Southampton but with the exception of the New Forest - will be escalated to tier four.

Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset (including the North Somerset area), Swindon, the Isle of Wight, the New Forest and Northamptonshire, as well as Cheshire and Warrington, will be escalated to tier three.

Cornwall and Herefordshire will be escalated to tier two.

No to worry.
He’ll be on tomorrow asking why Stockport and Trafford weren’t moved up to Tier 4.

Totally disagree Mr Gray on a risk reward stratagem basis. Everyone on the plane will have had a Covid test and upon landing big dexter in his apron and wellies will afford the escapees a once over. Then when you get to that remote hotel on the beach they will take your temperature and another three times before every meal. And all in a country operating well under the 20 per 100,000 governmental guidelines. Instead we are stuck in Rozzendorf on the outskirt of little Burnley shitting our trews for fear of infection from killer mutant Covid particles of death and the prospect of having strictly no household visitors until the new year. Happy fooking days!

Yes and sadly sharing another bad day with Stockport. The two areas are tracking each other closely unsurprisingly.

Cheshire East Cases 156 - up from 136. Total cases 10, 850. Pop Score up 40 to 2824. All these highest since I have been tracking.

Weekly Pop up from 207 to 218. Double where it was when you asked me to start tracking.

It seems to be accelerating.

Greater Manchester as a whole will follow much the same path unfortunately.

As the saying goes if you ignore the mistakes of the past you are condemned to repeat them.

Everyone on the plane will have had a Covid test and upon landing big old dexter in his apron and wellies will give the escapees a further once over. Eloquently put, very hard to argue with your reasoning.

Long live the “Singing Ringing Tree”.
