The first place in Manchester to start vaccinating was Wythenshawe and they were starting with the over eighties I believe? This was mooted at starting well over a week ago yet I've seen and heard nothing since. My parents live there and are both in their eighties yet haven't heard a thing. I'm wondering exactly how many people over eighty are there in Wythenshawe and how are they rolling it out, if they have started.?
My nanna is in a home in woodhouse park and gets hers on 30th dec

There is no way Merseyside will not be in the same tier as GM tomorrow.

They already should be as I have noted in here over past week or two. They have consistently performed worse than Manchester either in raw case numbers or more revealingly the daily Pop Number rise.

Today they had exactly the same number of cases as Manchester for the second time this week. But it was the highest number Liverpool has had in 2 months. And double where they were last week after rising steadily since mid December. Being a smaller city that means Liverpool's Pop score again rose by more than Manchester.

And the Wirral has tracked the same way - up and up recently. It was 10 times where it was only a month ago.

That Merseyside is taking a big share of the North West numbers note that GM total rose by 549 today but stayed at just 33% of the NW total - it was 50% when GM went into the higher tier and Merseyside did not BECAUSE it was having higher numbers than Merseyside.

To fall to it lowest in many months is happening despite rising numbers in GM because Merseyside had a bigger mountain to climb from where it was and it has been climbing it.

They cannot differentiate now and if they do then it needs calling out.

Indeed it should have happened pre Christmas and not doing so has likely driven Merseyside into the mess it is now which - if tier 3 had come in there when it should - might by now be deterring this rise.

Merseyside may well be in even worse trouble than GM come mid January now playing Tier catch up.

These tiers DO NOT work and here is yet another evidence of that.

As we have a light at the end of the tunnel, I was thinking how we might compare to other countries with the rollout of the vaccine. We got a head start on Germany, wonder how we’ll compare by the end of February?

Watching the news.

Zip from anyone in uk govt.

Sturgeon on telling people to stay home at hogmanay.

UK govt is completely absent at a point of national crisis.
As I said earlier, they obviously do think that it can wait until they’ve had their nice few days off over Xmas, knowing full well they are back in parliament tomorrow when they are normally off for the full period.

It’s a national disgrace and I can’t believe more isn’t being made of it.

If 53,000 cases were positive today how many more must have it and don’t get tested or don’t know? Must be in the order of 80,000 today?

The government spent 220m on hospitals that couldn't be staffed. In the City Centre munters young and old wander inside shops without face coverings. A good 30 per cent. Chaos.

I heard Jason Leitch, Senior clinical Advisor to the Scottish Government, say that he expected the effects of Christmas Day gatherings to appear around January 5th, so the figures will likely continue to climb until then and maybe even beyond.

Can’t help think it would be more prudent to move schools entirely online in January and to redeploy the military to accelerate the vaccination programme.

chuck in the amount of family’s / mates gatherings having household piss ups New Years and the effects will be even far worse

Took my Mam for her first vaccination last Monday - 21st, it was her 86th birthday and she was delighted!

She lives in Baguley but the vaccinations were rolled out at the lifestyle centre on Portway in Woodhouse Park.

I think roll out depends on the GP surgery. They called her on the Sunday evening the week before to see if she wanted it (apparently, not everyone does). When she agreed, they booked her in for 21st. Second jab is due on 11/01.

Maybe you should check with your parents’ surgery - but I think they’ll be in contact sooner rather than later.

I’ve been saying this throughout this pandemic. There needs to be a health revolution after covid has left us.

Far too many people get to their mid-20s to early-30s and then allow themselves to become fat, lazy, unfit, unhealthy, fat, sluggish bastards on a steady decline until they die. This puts great stress on the NHS (nearly every single mental and physical health problems can be traced back to poor diet and lack of physical fitness).

I’m 35 and will have run every day for 2 years come new year.

not had a cold, headache or any health problem at all.

Exercise really is the key.
