The first places in tier 4 were only xmas eve IIRC (hard to keep up...) so the effect on cases will only just start to be visible.

Much of the southeast went in on Dec 20th, it was extended on 26th.

Agree with everything you say he has benn the best thing during these press briefings.

Even if implemented on 20th, will only just be coming through now. Plus xmas, schools off will confound it.

I think it will be at least a fortnight before anything is clear on the impact. And we will only be able to assess (tier4 +schools) as the two were coincident.

No it was announced on the 19th, and implemented right away, we only went into 3 on the 19th, then 4 on 20th. (Luckily I got my hair cut that day.)

Our local authority numbers have just levelled off too.

Am I the only one who thinks the figures are juggled around to suit a narrative? Don't get me wrong I fully support us going into Level 4 and would have liked to see some tougher measures in place.

I fully understand there is a lag from Xmas that means figures will be higher but to have over 900 deaths announced on the day the vast majority of the country have their restriction levels increase helps the Governments argument, I am sure there would have been tougher questions if there had been half the number reported.

I am sure the same day that Level 3 was introduced there was also a huge jump in the numbers.

I hope they have been holding some of the numbers back in order to boost today's figure as otherwise the figure we can expect to see over the coming 2 or 3 weeks will be truly shocking.

from midnight on the 19th so Sunday the 20th ;) so thats 10 days but like i have said like a broken record apart from pubs etc nothing has really changed, still lots not wearing masks etc but i guess thats down to knobheads and not what tier you are in.

It’s effectively a national lockdown again. Six weeks after everyone being locked indoors, we will see all those returning from Dubai and Barbados... only to find a sudden rise in cases again. And so the endless cycle goes on.
