The govt put on their website a month ago that they expect to have 4 million doses.
This is the first I've heard of any delay to distribution due to bottling - that's not something that got mentioned today even (from what I heard of the press conference).
They are not going to tell us that bit ! It will not be anything but the normal distribution and logistics , it is a ma mmouth task

REGIONAL SCOREBOARD

MIDLANDS 3432 - down from 3993

THE NORTH

NORTH EAST 1957 - Big RISE from 1230

YORKSHIRE 2057 - UP from 1886 First time Yorkshire has topped 2000 in over 6 weeks.

And

NORTH WEST 3420 - big drop from 4194.

GREATER MANCHESTER had 1048 cases a fall of 356 of the 774 above.

This was actually enough to put GM onto 31% - the lowest percentage of the NW since last Summer.

It has been under 40% now for 18 days.

The reason? In those days East Lancashire has escalated more Merseyside even more.

And the Cheshire areas excluded from higher tiers like East Cheshire - paid the price for being oases in the wilderness where all the infected went to eat, drink and be merry spreaders of the new strain to the previously lower infected areas.

If only we could have foreseen such a possibility.
Thanks for the figures - grim but more informative than anything else I’ve seen

Apparently they have made the vaccine but forgot that there might be a large demand for little plasticky bottles to put the vaccine into. This is slowing production.

Boris is doubtless onto it and mobilising a Womble Army with himself being a dead ringer for Uncle Bulgaria.

Collect all the old bottley things you can find out there and we will have the vaccine to you in a jiffy....

Or a jiffy bag at least.

PS not all of the above is a joke. Bet you cannot work out which bit isn't.
It's stored in glass vials, to my knowledge there are >100m doses ready to go. How much is earmarked for the UK is anyone's guess but given the first approval is here it's likely a lot of it will.

I do know that the US had first dibs on supply but I doubt that will be held in the event of later approval from the FDA. Supply chain is such that stock should be available as required hence it taking ~3/4 weeks longer to authorise and my previous comments pointing to manufacture-related issues, not regulatory ones.

Hope everyone has had the best Christmas possible

They were saying there was millions of this ready to go, now it’s 530,000. That’s probably about 2 weeks worth of vaccinations with the pace they are at now. Slightly concerning considering it’s the vaccine the majority of the U.K. population will probably end up getting.
500,000 ready to go in the UK.
A further 4,000,000 when they take delivery of the glass phials to put 6 doses of vaccine in.

Investigating and dispelling Internet bollox since 1992

I fear my wife and her colleagues are being thrown to the wolves when schools go back in Liverpool region!
Rather surprised that there hasn’t been more interrogation of the authorities in regards to the spread of the virus in schools, particularly in respect to the new strain. Hear the same lines trotted out about schools being fundamentally safe, yet nobody asks about recent figures to support that assertion. Many teachers are parents themselves, so I’d imagine the virus will thrive in the inevitable contact between parties.

I see Israel is set to begin vaccinating teachers next.
