Not as simple as that tho, that might give us the advantage of first dibs, but, they wouldn't be classed as academy trained, for example, braaf will have trained at the club for 3 years and be classed as homegrown in accordance with cl/prem rules. Under new rules we wouldn't have been able to sign him in the first place.Unless of course you sign them as part of the group

My understanding is that the only players in the academy from now on cannot be from outside UK excepting Irish.Would they need a work permit to play for the academy?
The most 18 to 21year old players that can be bought in a season is three at moment but may be increased in the future.
There is a points system that will be used for senior players but I'm guessing that most City players that we will be buying will satisfy this requirement.

Without having to look up all their names the most prominent we bought without work permits were
Gabriel Jesus. Had to stay with his club as he had no work permit at the time. Was lucky enough to get it as Brazil played a load of internationals in a short period of time.
Zac Steffen Had to go on loan until this season until he built up the required points.
Marlos Moreno Went on several loans and is still on one. If he had been able to come to City when he was bought might be a totally different situation with him
Enes Unal. Again similar to Moreno. Several loan spells in which I believe he did fairly well.
Jesus was always getting a work permit. He wanted to win the league in Brazil before joining.
Steffan was purchased a year early to allow for him gaining the necessary points whilst Bravo saw out the last year of his contract.
Moreno and Unal were CFG signings. If they had become superstars whilst out on loan, they would have played for their countries and become available for work permits should we have wanted them. They didn’t improve and so one was sold on and the other became a loan rambler as he turned out to be useless.
Luiz is the only player we have had work permit issues with.
Both Marlos Moreno and Enes Unal were bought by City , not CFG.Luiz is the only player we have had work permit issues with.

Moreno went on loan to Deportivo from City.
When we bought Jesus he had no caps for Brazil. City took a chance on him getting the necessary games with Brazil and were proved right.
I am not saying we shouldn't have bought these players. We are taking a chance though that they will not get clearance to play for us and my preference would be to buy players who can come to the Etihad and either make it here or not.
I think loaning them out around Europe is not good for them.
Jack Harrison and Aaron Mooy are 2 players that I would have liked to have come to City straight away and given time to prove if they were good enough.

Losses are calculated over a 3 year rolling period, so if they didn't spend they they can lose money the year after. Of course it may mean they have less to spend in the next 2 years, when the no spend year drops out of the 3 year period.Does saving up apply under ffp?

Sterling still has two and a half years left on his current deal I believe. Might be wise to wait and see how this season goes before offering him a new one as I don't think he's played particularly well for a long time now.
