The article is giving a health warning for people to stay safe until the efficacy of the vaccine has been achieved. Sounds like you have misjudged the piece since that seems useful advice.

As I posted from the Jerusalem Post yesterday #285,

“Moreover, the risk of catching coronavirus after the first jab has been confirmed in that some 15,000 patients who received the first dose of the vaccine were screened and 428 were confirmed positive for corona. Some 12 people were hospitalized. It is possible that some of them were exposed to the virus even before being vaccinated.”

That would be under 3%, if my fingers and toes don’t deceive me, which would be in line with the touted 95% efficacy.

The 95% figure relates to something quite different.

95% is the *relative* risk of getting covid for unvaccinated people - if 100 unvaccinated people in a particular situation would catch it, only 5% of vaccinated people would.

Here the 3% is the *total* who got Covid. As the part says, it's likely a significant proportion of them were already infected when vaccinated.

RT are cunning. So maybe once in a blue moon... they might actually not totally fabricate a story like this example.

But they've still used a click bait 'fake news' style heading to trick people into thinking that the vaccine is infecting people. It's part of the wider Russian strategy to get people in rival countries (Israel, US, UK etc) to reduce trust in their own governments.

There’s plenty to have a pop at the Gov about since the pandemic, but the vaccine approval and roll outs really arent one of them.

I agree largely with what you said but dissagree that five days to deliver vaccines is acceptable. I repeat the approval should not have come as a surprise. If its safe give the jab anywhere. why use hospitals. Bizare logic when they are overun as it is.

Dont worry, it's party central in the west coast of Scotland tonight. People who couldn't point out Ibrox on a map giving it the big un' with some weird fucking loyalist parties. Sometimes I fucking hate Scotland and today is one of those days.

i can just add that while they provaricate and worry about 1 or 2 people having reactions another 800 or so die every day. The entire country should be on a war footing and it so clearly isnt. We should be enroling vets and dentists to give the jab in their places of work. Doesnt need to be hospitals. we appear to be worrying about doing things the correct way while yet more people die. Pointless.

I think there's no current belief that the clinical manifestation is changed by the new variant.

I think it's possible that clinical practice has changed since 1st wave - many older and frail patients are not being taken to ICU as it was found intubation was actually overall detrimental.

So older, frailer pts die outside of ICU, which has lower occupancy and lower average age as a result.

But that's just my reading, could be hopelessly wrong.

They are able to save nearly twice as many with oxygen CPAP machines, steroids, anticoagulants, antiviral drugs and now plasma.
Sadly the infection rate is so high now that the the health service is breaking down so people will die because there are no spare beds to deliver certain therapies.

They didn’t get the virus from the vaccine. If they are ill they caught it before or just after being vaccinated. It is scientifically impossible to get the virus from any of the three vaccines that have been approved in the UK.
