LIVERPOOL 546 cases - up from 356. Total cases 28, 202.

Pop score up 110 to 5663. Weekly Pop up 86 from 281 to 367. One of the largest rises in NW lately.

WIRRAL 429 cases - up from 349. Total cases 12, 905.

Pop score up 132 to 3983. Weekly Pop up 89 from 403 to 492. Even bigger rise.

WARRINGTON cases 178 - up from 133. Total cases 10, 456.

Pop score up 85 to 4979, Weekly Pop up 56 from 339 to 395

All of these are ahead of everywhere in Greater Manchester.

Same with my borough - the last 8 days have been approx 340/350 twice, in the 400s three times, 120 on 25th, 170 on 30th, 44 yesterday, 422 today.

No clear conclusion possible, although it looks to have flattened.
Schools are closed. 30% of new infections gone. The 20% rise from Christmas will now fade.
Sadly schools can't reopen till kids are tested twice daily.
The same may apply to work places

This is why this country is in such a shit state, these idiots are useless when deciding on anything constantly going back on things that are plain to see. Shut the schools for a few weeks that’s a month off others it’s going to go through the roof.
Sadly our Civil Service anf Health Service are an incompetent top-down management organisation. It wouldn't matter who was on the bridge.

And they were still partying up to and including the 30th!

Interestingly lockdown acted as viral selection mechanism to boost the spread of the new strain at the expense of the old. What we did was reduce the spread of the old strain and promote the spread if the new strain. Most of the new cases being in school and in the homes that the school kids live in.
Lockdown reduced the spread of the old strain R0 to 0.9 but that left the new strain to outcompete the old strain with an R0 between 1 3 and 1.6. It won't go below one till schools are shut.
The only way to reopen schools is to test kids twice a day with the LF test and isolate children who test +ve till they have a -ve PCR test

And who the bloody hell is going to test all school kids twice a day, under the conditions for spacing required by the govt guidelines on school testing?

Do we have enough vaccine close the country down again and start calling people forward to be vaccinated, open up football stadiums to get people in, 55000 at the Ethiad in a day would be done, do that round the country and you are halfway there. No vaccine you don’t travel abroad, let’s see all these twats refuse it then
Mate, I’m not sure the numbers that could be vaccinated in a day at the Etihad is a direct function of the stadium’s capacity!

Our local coop has had all nine staff test positive and have shut for a day and got staff in from elsewhere. God knows how many people they have infected

There has to come a point soon surely where the r drops naturally as there are less people to infect as so many people who Interact with each other have had it? Must be close to half a million got it this week?
