My lad is due to go back to school on Wednesday and I'm becoming increasingly concerned about him going back(He's 7)
I have absolutely no problem teaching him at home as me and the ex shared that over the summer and we both work from home and she is emailing the school tomorrow asking what our options are and if we would incur penalties for not sending him back to school.

The whole situation is a mess

Dont worry, it's party central in the west coast of Scotland tonight. People who couldn't point out Ibrox on a map giving it the big un' with some weird fucking loyalist parties. Sometimes I fucking hate Scotland and today is one of those days.

it wasn’t Mendy was it?

The fact that at 9:30 on Sunday morning we are still unsure if Primary Schools will reopen tomorrow shows the lack of organisation.
Even Liverpool's leaders are now calling for a full lockdown but are in Tier 3.

Haven’t the government made it clear which Primary Schools will be closed (London and some other parts of the south east) and that the rest will be open?

They have but SAGE and the largest teachers union have urged teachers not to go back in because of the risk and are considering legal action against the government. Brighton Council yesterday closed all the primary schools against government orders to open. Just seen Andy Burnham advising Manchester Primary schools not to open

In that respect I agree, however my wife works in a Primary school and has been told by the headteacher there is no certainty they will be in and to keep her phone close by today. I assume it is down to the pressure from the unions.

Penalties I’d see them in court, home schooled like everyone else through lockdown that was good enough then it’s good enough now, missing out on primary school education will have very little bearing for the relative short time that it is, they have 8-10 years to catch up.

Boris on Andrew Marr show is saying schools will reopen other than the ones in high risk areas.

On a side note, My wife belives rightly or wrongly that if the kids are to be tested in schools she will be expected to be part of the team to do this. Now given that 2 months ago we both went to a testing centre where testing kits we being passed through a small gap through a window at the end of handling tongs and whiteboard instructions rather than talking. i am keen to know what protective measures will be put in place to ensure her safety.

I think they won’t I reckon a national revolt against this, the feeling is that strong, the government are loosing control of this and this could be the tipping point they need to be careful as others could say fuck it and start doing what they want it could spiral. The government would be better served to now just say don’t go back so it looks like they are still in control.

And she should be vaccinated first

Yes, basically, if you are in a tier 4 area then Primary Schools are shut as it's too dangerous for them to open. The exception of course is if you live in a tier 4 area in which case it's safe and they are fine to open.

I’m in a similar position regarding my daughter. She’s due to go back on Thursday but I’m pretty reluctant to send her in. Wouldn’t surprise me if there is a government U-turn before then anyway.
