Yep and it’s entirely normal for there to be amendments to the vaccine.

As I said earlier, I work for a company involved in the vaccine rollout and the potential is now there to get this both rolled out quickly and also the process in place for subsequent rollouts. My concern is the volume of unnecessary deaths until we get to that point though.

Allowing schools to open today, for example, if he shuts them down tonight or later in the week is just negligent and will have unnecessary consequences.
This all should hopefully calm the nerves of those of us thinking this thing will be with us for years.

Vaccines won't eliminate Covid , it won't limit its spread or ease of transmisison.

it is designed to assist the affected fight the disease more effectively than current virals etc.

In short reduce the death rate from or with the virus.
Rubella , polio , TB etc waves

its estimated that 710k die with or a result of flu and flu like symptoms each year on average but could be as many as twice this amount in especially virulent ones.

Covid is like a really bad flu season more easily transmitted with a lot more media exposure.
Another one who is blinkered by poor science. There are not 710k killed by flu each year. The official stats show on average 11k die from flu each year and that includes the winter months of which Covid has only been present for one month of winter so far. I have mentioned this fact and provided references twice before on here so not doing it again. Please stop spreading misinformation.

im all for one last lockdown. But i fall into the category of 3 million who dont receive a penny in assistance if im stopped working (in peoples houses) . Im sat here torn between knowing its needed and worrying sick about how im going to put food on the table. Its a horrible.

I'm in exactly the same boat.

Utter bollox she just jumps in a few hours before he announces thing the divisive bitch.
I do get the impression this is her tactic, let’s not forget they’ll already be in comms with each other.

She either always goes one more or adds one more thing or jumps in.

It’s not a coincidence.

And I think the government has been too slow this time so it’s not a defence of Boris.

REGIONAL SCOREBOARD SUMMARY

Not good news for the NW. As London in falling the NW is rising and the gap closing. NW for second day running sets a new record ever highest number of cases. Though not a huge day to day rise. And many other regions up too.

Vaccines absolutely can eliminate COVID, by proxy of stopping transmission. The more prevalent the virus is, the more reproduction it is doing and thus the more mutations (strains) appear.

They have to get off their fat arses and do some work , recalling parliament usually means a vote on something
What the bloody hell have all these MPs been doing anyway? (let alone the Lords). They can't do much consituency work because of lockdown and are not in Westminster. When they do show up in the media it is just to try and score political points. Our political system has totally failed us during this crisis. That applies to MPs of all parties. They have gone missing.

You dont hear much about gloves but i have always worn single use ones , to the pharmacy etc , use sanitiser on them on the way in and out , right or wrong ? Any use or not ?
I wear those disposable latex gloves when I go on the bus. Have been since February last year

Looks like if your recovering from Covid do not excersize for a while after recovering
And yet Footballers are coming straight back after isolating wherever possible, it worrying how little is known about the long term affects of Covid.

I wonder what the worst case scenario is if this happens. We were told at the start by Imperial College to expect 500,000 deaths if we just went for herd immunity. Presumably with a case fatality rate of about 1 per cent that figure is not wildly out.

Yeah, reduced by maybe 0.1 for every vaccination of the highly vulnerable (mortality is as high as 10% for over 80s).

And that was unmitigated (no restrictions) (slower transmission results in less overall deaths), I think the mitigated scenario was 250,000?

But of course if hospitals are truly overwhelmed that could be worse.

Incidentally it's the IFR ( infection fatality ratio) estimated at 1%. That's deaths per actual infection.

The case fatality rate, CFR, is deaths per positive test. The CFR will be higher than the IFR because we don't find all infections. So far, the CFR is roughly 0.3% (2.7 million positives, 75000 deaths).

But into 6 figures more dead by end March without action, almost certainly.

[Edit - as pointed out below should read CFR 3%, not 0.3%]

People mixing in households etc.

I think over the last month this has been a real issue.

A mate of mine has said he knows so many people who had gatherings and parties for NYE.

He didn’t to be fair to him but got invited to a load.
I’ve got some right rum mates but thankfully out of all of them I only know three who have flaunted rules and been a bit cunty (and come out with some social media conspiracy shite).

We’ve got other mates, one with one lung and one who’s had a kidney transplant in the last couple of years, and parents who’re vulnerable, so most of us have been sensible throughout.

I’ve not seen any of them since February last year.

Although my Father was telling me that his next door neighbours were quoting David Icke to him before Christmas... they’ve always seemed such normal people n’all!
