Kind of implied given if you can only leave the house for essential shopping that they will be closed.

same as tier 4. Only change is for areas that aren’t tier 4, schools and a slight change of messaging to sound more strict (stay at home unless you absolutely can’t work from home rather than “if you can”)

Thing is around here in tier 4 shops have got around the 'must close' by doing a cluck and collect system. The only change is the education closes.
Unless shops are being made to stop click and collect. Garden centres still open , golf course open, building centres open , pawn shops still open, etc. Are these shops closing now as they didnt in tier 4 ?

That's a hugely overly optimistic view, firstly there isn't enough vaccine at the moment, and secondly some won't take it.

We all want optimism, but tonight is not an optimistic one.

I would imagine the take up from the over 70s would be very high. I think I read last week 388 have died under the age of 60. When I say no one one I mean relatively. If we get through 14 million vaccines in 8 weeks I remain positive we have largely beaten it. Time will tell.

There will be a hard copy, too, for those unable to be vaccinated and those unwilling to carry smartphones, so it's not only an app. The fact that there is an English version and that they've liaised with other countries, who are in agreement with it, suggests that we'll all ultimately have it- at least if we want to participate in society to the extent we once did. It will start as a means of promoting vaccination but then be used as a means of opening sectors of society and then the world.

Bring it on! Thanks for info, didn't know anything about this so it's good to learn.

If you wanted to hamstring a Covid vaccination programme as effectively as possible then you'd probably not need to look any further than France. In probably the most anti-vaxxer country in Europe only doctors can do the injections and recipients have to sign a 47 page consent form.

At least the nonsense here that retired doctors and nurses who have volunteered to administer shots but have to submit 21 separate documents such as certificates for Prevent anti-terrorism and conflict resolution training are being reviewed (& hopefully binned).

I suggest you read the guidance which has been released at gov.uk but click and collect is permitted.
I’m not sure what your issue is with click and collect. Safe, distanced queuing outside has no risk of spreading the virus.

So what happened between the Prime Minister (ha!) saying on Andrew Marr yesterday that schools were safe and today oh no they are not? I know it is panto season but honestly!

As someone who is closely involved with schools I have been talking to people today and they are just absolutely worried sick not just for the children in their care but also their own families. The complaints from parents is wracking up all the time when it isn't the school or the staff's fault. They are just doing their best and like the NHS workers who are getting abuse they are also getting abuse!

I rarely post on 'political' matters but I am just so angry at the way everyone is being treated.

Stay safe take care everyone.

More businesses closed but click and collect permitted. Guidance is quite clear on gov.uk so useful for a change.

So who’s buying hair clippers or weights, or you heading into February looking homeless and very chubby
