Why would Golf/Pitch and Put,next to the Trafford Centre,still be open?

I'm a warm weather golfer but apparently 2 balls are ok still.

I get regular emails from the courses I play advertising availability of green times.

Blackburn is with Merseyside why the NW is rising so much but a few boroughs aside GM is not going up to the same degree. And why East Lancashire hospitals often have the most deaths in the NW sadly.

Today it had 259 cases. By a long long way the worst ever. More than double where it was a week or so ago. And about 12 times where it was when GM entered restrictions in late Summer.

Its Pop score rose by 173 - its most ever. And became the first place to enter the 8000 club at 8082.

Oldham used to be neck and neck with here but happily it has improved so much it is now a whopping 865 behind and a long way from entering the 8000 club.

Warrington also had its highest ever numbers today - 303 - with its Pop score rising far more than anywhere in GM - 144 - to skip the 5100 club entirely and go straight to 5210,

Like Merseyside Warrington and Halton seem to have paid the price of being in lower tiers and seeing cases leach through the sieve that these tiers more accurately are.

A very positive article has just come up on the Telegraph (behind paywall so I won't link). It is about about vaccine availability and it appears the UK has plenty. In addition to the 580,000 doses of the Oxford vaccine being distributed now a further 450,000 will be delivered tomorrow. A further three million doses are in vials and will be released shortly and fifteen million doses are awaiting decanting into vials. There are also five million Pfizer doses in the UK right now so in total 24 milion doses are ready to go or will be shortly. It won't happen from day one but in a couple of weeks I'd be extremely disappointed if we aren't achieving a minimum of two million shots a week.

well that is madness. It is hardly essential.

There isn't that much left to be gained from going from tier 4 to a 'tier 5'.

There is another option - targeted vaccination in the NHS regions most under pressure. The problem with vaccination is that it takes a fortnight to affect immunity so if we want to do this we have to it sooner rather than later.

I keep reading how people are worried how long it will take to vaccinate the entire population. Erm...we don’t need to? Just those who are at risk of getting ill or dying surely?

Ethically, vaccinating perfectly healthy young people in rich countries when you could be vaccinating at risk / older people in other countries is a conundrum.

Before anyone jumps in, I am perfectly pro-vaccines and have had a load of vaccines all my life through travel and work (yellow fever etc)

This work from home message is being ignored by a lot of companies though. I work on a business park (all offices) and some of the car parks are full. The M6 which was very quiet during the March/April lockdown is busy again.

I think the message has been flimsy. It worked in lockdown one but has been too wishy washy since then.

Yep it’s being ignored by most companies. I’ll be going Into an office tomorrow with a load of other people, even though we can all work from home.

as will all of the people I see getting the train in the morning as well. The rate will never go down unless they force companies to change

As was the NW hospital data today if you missed my post just before the match on how things went in England nationally (up a lot) and in the regions. The NW faring best and falling in both patients and ventilators.

London sadly in a huge mess and must soon be under real pressure.

713 of the now 2017 on ventilators - huge rise since Christmas and nearly 6000 in hospital.

Started feeling a bit weird in the legs last night (no pain, just tingling and a little tired) and woke up to my housemate saying he had a bad cough. Both went for tests, i've had a lateral flow and a normal one. Lateral flow one was negative but guessing they aren't as accurate?
