Erling Haaland

Huh? Do you not rate Haaland? Whom do you prefer that we sign as striker if not him?

The guy seems to be a clumsy oath - but he's extremely fast and bullies defenders due to his size. And, in spite of his seeming clumsiness - he can pass the ball effectively.

The best part of his game though is his strike percentage - the guy is deadly when open on goal for a shot - amazing!
I was referring to the member you quoted.

I don't get the clumsy reference......i think Haaland is superb,as my comments in this thread will support.

Cheers.

Maybe it's just me... whenever Haaland starts to dribble he looks - to me - as ungraceful as can be. His dribbling is however very effective - and his apparent clumsiness belies world class skill.

I feel that way about prime Cristiano Ronaldo. That he looked very stiff and uncomfortable on the ball, and needed space and pace to beat players rather than finesse and feints. Maybe haaland is the same an explosive and unpolished dribbler.

Gio reyna looks good as well. Maybe just me but I've never bought the sancho hype.
It’s not just you. I watch a lot of German football and would rather anyone win the league than Bayern. That means that I want Dortmund to win most games because they’re usually the most likely challengers. I also like them to do well in Europe because I’ve been to watch them twice.

He rarely performs in matches that you would perceive to be against teams either better than or as good as Dortmund.

Yes, he’ll score against Augsburg or Mainz but rarely turns up against Bayern or PSG.

I don’t think he looks that good for England either unless it’s against Luxembourg or Macedonia.

Unfortunately too many people judge by stats these days so they see his nice stats and dont realise he's an erratic player

Ings would be incredible in our team.He has the talent and the work ethic.

However....if we can secure a long term superstar instead, then that is where our focus should be.
For sure I agree. My post was more tongue in cheek poking fun at our lack of finishing and centre forward depth at times.

Just a thought, do we have an Alfie Haaland appreciation thread, just in case he comes on here. Might hold some sway as we need this boy in.

He's played Bayern 3 times, scored twice and assisted once. He's played PSG twice and has scored twice, prompting a famous celebration. He scored the only 2 goals against RB Leipzig to get Dortmund to 2nd place. He has 16 CL goals in 12 games and averages a CL goal every 56 minutes.

We dropped points against Leeds, West Brom and West Ham, who were 2 promoted teams and one who finished 16th. Even if he's this flat-track bully (which he's not), I'd argue they're the harder teams to break down because they'd consider getting 1 point to be a victory.

That's really strange because he's played in the last four league meetings between the two sides (albeit he was only brought on as a substitute in the last one).

The dates of these games were 07/11/20, 26/05/20, 09/11/19 and 06/04/19 if you'd like to look them up.

The results of them were all Bayern wins. 2-3, 0-1, 0-4 and 0-5.

In the 2-3 game, Reus and Haaland scored Dortmund's goals. Now I haven't checked who assisted them but he certainly didn't score in the 0-1, 0-4 or 0-5 games that he started in.

Edit - just seen your replies saying you thought I was talking about Haaland, not Sancho.

Yeah sorry mate, thought you was on about Haaland. For what it's worth, I still rate Sancho but that ship has sailed.

Erling Halaand have one thing counting against him, and it's possibly the one thing that will prevent him signing with us - his agent. To say there is no love lost between Pep and Mino Raiola is to put it lightly...
