Tis ordinary folk, of that you can be sure.

Boris broke the whole thing with the Christmas u-turn.
What do you mean by that? The Christmas u-turn was the best thing he did. (Admittedly they should never have said they would allow 5 days of mixing in the first place, but thank feck they backtracked from that!)

yes its to late,we have to ride the storm now,but that video- we lost more lives in the last 24hrs than Australia has in the whole pandemic makes you think

The two countries projected to be best equipped to deal with a pandemic, the United States and the United Kingdom, have been found sorely wanting. They went into it deluded by ideas of their own preparedness and superiority, and nearly a year on, I'm still not entirely sure that the penny has dropped in either capital.

One way this could have been minimized would have been to have had governments of national unity, including in the UK all of the devolved administrations, and to have deployed the military from the outset. However, that would have involved putting political squabbles second and putting saving lives first.

We should never have to be that society, but too many sections of the public still don't believe the rules apply to them.

The only way would be to have the army on the streets with check points in and out of the main arteries, supplemented by the police clamping down like the Gestapo, locally.

My wife has endured an horrific month or so, catching it from her school and then seeing me ripped apart by it.

She has been back at school all week looking after key worker kids and those who are deemed 'at risk'.

She had a class of 16 today out of 30.

Previous lockdowns she had no more than six.

Wtf is going on, our teachers are being guilt jobbed into putting their lives and those of their families on the line.
The new list of who can go to school is open ended.
Just say you don’t have a laptop for Benjamin and Lucy and in they go.

But we know they won't! We literally know they won't. It's like asking a 5 year old (aka an idiot) to be responsible, them not, and then blaming the five year old. If you have the power to stop 5 year old/idiot damaging others and hurting others, and you don't, then you're being irresponsible too. Which is exactly what the government are doing. EVERY fucker in this country knew we had one shot at compliance, we fucked it up due to the cummings disaster, false promises, allowing conspiracy theories to spread and more. Now we're sat here going 'but why are people not listening?!'. Cmon ffs. Doesn't take a genius to work out that they're not gonna suddenly change cos we ask nicely in a press conference that they don't watch.
Extremely well put @twosips and extremely frightening to say the least.

People need to take fucking responsibility as well mate.

Some **** at work was just on a conference call bragging about breaking lockdown this week already, since her party at New Year.

Just had a word with my boss to say she needs a bollocking.
Needs sacking more like. Companies should be telling employees that breaking the law brings the company into disrepute and is a sackable offence. Stay at home as much as possible isn’t too hard to understand is it. Fucked off with all these twats who are too stupid, ignorant and selfish to stay in and stop spreading the virus. They all need shooting although I do understand that might be taking things too far.

Yes. There was some harrowing story of someone dying very young (from COVID) on the radio this morning (actually I missed all but the last 2 seconds of it) and then they cut to some doctor expert. The doctor was clearly upset and said something about how terrible it is and it's difficult to comment after that. The host then said (in terms), yes but we want you to tell everyone how unusual this is and not to worry!!! I could not believe my ears. The BBC were actively trying to downplay the whole thing, when in the public's best interests, they should be doing the opposite.
The BBC never gat any aitime in my place mate, they have shown their colours during this pandemic to the point i am now a non payer off their licence fee, Sky Auatralia are probably the best that are around these days

Jesus, my wife's school are already appealing to parents for old laptops to be donated so pupils can have use of them and avoid them coming into school.

She had one mum this week who they know isn't a key worker trying it on, saying she needed to work from home.

A fucking call centre worker for Aviva.

So many 'parents' in this country do not perceive school as a treasured place of learning and discovery.

It is seven hours a day they don't have to think about them at all.

Having driven passed a school today their car park was rammed. I'm not having that all those kids are kids of key workers.

And the only reason I was out was to take my mum for the second dose of the vaccine. The amount of traffic was no different to what it would be ordinarily. I just don't get it.

Nice of them to ship their sick off to other regions so that when these other regions - like the southwest - need their own capacity, there is none because it's full of people from Kent.

That's a pretty unpleasant comment, IMO. Yes, it may have knock-on effects, probably WILL have knock-on effects, but it's absurd to suggest people have to stay and die when they might live.

"sorry, you come from Kent and have to stay there, in case we need the beds later"?

Replace Kent with Manchester on this forum, and I bet it won't play well.

That's what I mean. From personal experience, everyone I know just threw up their hands and carried on as if he'd said nothing.

That includes people who've been really, really careful to follow rules, and make loads of real sacrifices earlier in the year.

It's basic psychology. If you want to undermine people's commitment to something, that's exactly how to do it. Say one thing, then at the last minute change your mind.

Pretty obvious stuff to me, but I know we're all different by design.

In Morrison's Dukinfield today doing the weekly shop, first aisle there's two young adult girls and one bloke who was probably their dad, no masks, I'd just heard today's figures and lost it, stared at the three of them, hardly ever swear in front of females but just said "I fucking despair", waited for the backlash but nothing, I'm only 5ft 6" and 61 but just couldn't help it, wankers

Too many people class themselves as key workers. Self important cunts

Nah, i'm sorry - how can you separate the politics from this? Genuine answer needed please.

Easily, it’s boring.

SAGE wanted a circuit breaker, Labour in Wales gave them one, they then turned into the worst infection rate in Europe.

Sturgeons done largely the same as England up in Scotland and gets no grief from anyone hardly.

It’s all just partisan shite.

They’ve let a woman take her two kids into school because she’s on benefits and doesn’t work, well fuck me that’s ideal then isn’t it to teach them.
Who the hell is a key worker, seems it’s everyone these days, I’ve asked before who can and can’t go to work, it seems DFS are open, s9 this isn’t lockdown then is it? It’s a joke.
