@give it to gordon well said. Just about the way I feel at the moment. Where's Johnson in all this? Only see him on a photo op.

Perhaps Johnson is staying at home !!

Seriously though it doesnt feel like a hard lockdown does it shops doing click ands collect, it's not click and collect as a workmate just out of curiosity knocked on the phone shop door and asked to buy some earphones, which the shop keeper just went and got. No click and collect just knock on door and ask !

Sorry for my rant I feel ok in myself just fed up with this eat, sleep work lifestyle when others are carrying on as normal ;)

The players have had tests and isolated up to 10 days ahead of the game, do some research.

plus they’re playing footie for 90mins and getting changed in the changing room, so I’m sure this celebration for the biggest win in the clubs history isn’t going to make any difference whatsoever
The players haven’t been isolating for 10 days , some of them have other jobs to go to , one of them is a head teacher , I’m sure he hasn’t been allowed to isolate for 10 days . My daughter is a teacher and was disgusted when she heard this during the game yesterday considering what she is having to go through .

Yea but according to the government football makes us feel better.

Agree why should they get 10 days of work just to play a footy match, they didnt self isolate

Could be worse you could be a workmate of one of those chorley players and working alongside him on Monday

Ps that's sarcasm ;)

Well are you not looking forward to seeing City play this afternoon? To me that’s a welcome break from the monotony of the lockdown. If peole don’t want to watch football they can turn off the TV or swap channels.

How so mate?

1. Instruct the public to stay at home.

2. Allow millions of them to go to these sites to "see if I've got it".

3. At those sites those who do have it are "taking it to" those sites which allows it to spread at those sites.

4. Those without it who go to those sites are now in a location where the virus is definitely present, hence potentially exposing themselves to it.

Having seen it in action, its utter idiocy mate.

I will watch it do I think it right ? No.
Do I think it's right making them to play football every 3 days ? No.
But the players union dont seem to have a problem with the treatment of their members.
Do I like the xbox crowd ? No

I dont really enjoy the games part of me thinks if you have to be tested every other day just to play sport when frontline works arent is that right ?

if it was up to me , you would only be allowed to shop once a week and anyone with underlying health conditions should stay at home and pretty sure volunteers could get shopping etc
Instinctively I agree with you, mate, but I tend to want to limit my shopping to a few very quick shops (less than 5 minutes) at quiet times early or late, getting the fresh stuff we need quick as lengthy exposure to the virus in poorly ventilated shops is one of the biggest spreaders. No peering at shopping lists, no dithering. Any more than 5 minutes in Tesco or Morrisons and I struggle.

Big home delivery of long-life stuff from Iceland tonight.

My workmates 6 off us had to get tested yesterday 4 of us went to the one were you get results within the hour. 2 went to the 'wrong' test place which can tack longer.
Just send the WhatsApp group chat and the manager isn't happy as they might miss Monday work waiting for the results.
Yes they went to the wrong place but missing one day in the middle of winter is no big problem, just means the towns xmas lights are a day late coming down and no one should be in the town to complain anyway!
Management seem more worried about a missed day work than us being negative.

Think I need to change job !!

Bluntly, I wish they'd cancelled football completely. Football without fans is completely pointless, as well as creating a false sense of normality.

could you provide a source for that? im interested in this, perhaps you mean hospital admissions not ICU admissions? not having a go, does seem very high
Personally I don't know where the figure comes from but it is certainly credible.
The latest ICNARC figures give the median age of ICU occupancy over the second wave of 62.
Which by definition means half are that age or less.
If beds are full, it's possible that there has been a tendency to restrict admissions in people at the upper end.

I heard it from a spokesperson from the Faculty of Emergency Medicine on Radio 5 Live this morning. Soon afterwards, there was the brother of a 35 year old father of 2 who had lost his life to Covid. I wasn’t going to post the latter but I reckon that there needs to be some some counter balance about posts suggesting it’s peole who were already on deaths door that die from Covid.

Everyone has there own view and of course football is far better with fans. That said, we need to be careful what we wish for because football wouldn’t return for some (eg fans of some lower League clubs) if all the Leagues stopped now.

Like I said in my post, people who don’t enjoy watching football at the moment can always turn off their TV or switch channels.

So players hadnt played a match for 10 days or trained. Self isolating is staying at home and not going now. So chorley players had no preparation for 10 days wow !!

Seemed alot of non players in the changing room.

Imagines like that dont help the 'stay at home' message, if I hadnt seen my dad for months but saw that video, would I go round my dads ? All I have done for 10 months now is eat, sleep, work..

We have hospitals at breaking point, meant to be in a hard lockdown, yet sport carries on. My work, the wife and son and gf work carry on. The roads just as busy. The same faces every day in the town, all in groups on their mobility scooters 5 or 6 of them every day !. Why arent people doing a weekly shop why every day ?

I am getting fed up ( and scared now ) with it so many people not taking it seriously. Had another test yesterday as a work mates mum is positive. My lads gf who lives here works in intensive care, she is looking knackered and is only 23.
There are clearly more people working in this lockdown. When working in town the public come up to you and take offence when you back away as they are right in your face without masks because its outside. I wear a mask in town even when outside.

I am jealous of the people who have been able to work from home in their safety of their homes and have saved a fortune on travel expenses. Or of the ones that have been furlough my mate will have been on furlough for 12 months by march, he has never been as fit !
You have the radio on and all you hear is ' have you learnt a new skill' ' have you started getting fit' what diy projects have you done on furlough.
The country seems obsessed with the people on furlough, couldnt give a shit about the people working non stop or the poor bastards that have lost their jobs.
Its tough going to work every day thinking is this the day I catch it, must be even harder for the NHS workers I really dont know how they keep going. Heros all of them.

So that's how I feel about covid19 so when I see a picture of chorley dressing room it pisses me off. I havent seen family or friends for 10 months now but football and other sports just carry on like normal rubbing our faces in it. Oh look what we can do , when in real live we are scared to go anywhere near our workmates, wear masks and gloves around each other, disinfect all the time , whilst sports people are allowed to enjoy life , hug each other etc !

Sunday morning rant over

Stay safe everyone. .

There’s almost a conspiracy of silence over football. Blatant breaches every match. I even saw Mahrez gobbing on the floor before walking out for the derby match. (Not that I’m singling him out deliberately.)

Seriously though, are commenters on a 3-line whip from the media, I wonder?

interesting thank you

Don’t think it creates any normality. I don’t particulary enjoy watching any football other than a few of our games, and not those like normal.
What it does do though is provide relief for some of the older people I know and a couple still shielding them selves and when we ring them or drop off shopping for them they look forward to speaking to me for a 5 minute chat about the games, some kind of normality to talk about, and the games on the BBC especially they look forward to, as some don’t have Sky.
So is it ideal obviously not but a lot of people do benefit from it.
