Didn't know where to put this but seeing that it's covid related I'll post it here.

This morning one of my best mates has died of this horrible disease.
He was just 50 years of age.
We both went together to watch City for many years and was together when we won our first trophy in 35 years in the f.a.cup final.
R.I.P. my friend Ste.

very sad news, sorry to hear

My mate said this morning, if you don't NEED to be at work and you get caught its the employee who pays the £200 fine not the employer? Surely that can't be right?

"Those without a 'reasonable excuse' - including those who are working outside when its not essential- can be slapped with a £200 fine."

There's something I don't get regarding the new variant. They've found isolated cases of it in various EU countries, but for some reason it's not spread there anything like it has over here. It sounds as though they've been really really lucky and managed to catch the only very few cases withinn these other countries before it's spread any further, which seems unlikely given how transmissible we're told it is.

Even with the banning of UK flights etc, surely the chances are it was too late and already spreading, but we're not seeing that in daily figures at all?
Also in the states and apparently in people who havent travelled. Cant figure why it isnt having the same impact in other countries

I was speaking to a friend who works in the NHS yesterday. We talked about this and he said that the NHS is just not geared up to work like that, it is litterally too weighed down in bureaucracy and proceedures to allow it to roll out such a radical vaccination plan.
Totally agree.
The army should have been running the countries Covid response from the start with NHS and PHE teams being assigned to do work for it.
This is a war. Do it property.

Yeah that's what's puzzling me. Figures seem at least stable everywhere else, I'd have expected it to be sky rocketing like us by now. It's just really hard to believe they've managed to catch every case early enough and take the necessary measures with it and it's not already going through communities.

Putting aside the shenanigans of the last 24 hours we now have to get the vaccine rolled out ASAP.
I read this morning we are way ahead of other European countries in doing this.
There are some risks in going first but they are definitely worth taking and as a critic so far of the Government's handling of the pandemic it is only right that they should be given credit for getting the vaccination show on the road.
