Eric Garcia to Barcelona

It will teach them not to take the mickey in future dealings even if Garcia goes on a free. Our conduct hopefully noted by anyone else wanting to do deals with us.
Yep we definitely showed Barca, we turned down an offer of what looks to have been at least double what it is now, paid his wages for 6mths and even kept him ticking over with the odd appearence.

This has been a shambles from the start, on the eve of a CL game he announces hes leaving, plays the CL game and is shite, proceeds to be involved after that and be crap, we pose all summer like we are forcing Barcas hand only for them to pull out and just now take him for a nominal fee or most likely, for nothing in the summer. Hopefully CIty have learnt from this, if someone comes out and wants to leave, get them gone at the first opportunity.

Not upset to see him go..good luck to him.. would be surprised if he becomes world class..would have taken 5 million and not paying his wages..certainly no better than current CBs and would prefer THB to be given a chance.Adios.

Neither party are likely to come out feeling like they gained the upper hand.

We had an unhappy player that wanted to go and was going to leave for free in a year. Let’s be generous and say his performances had been mixed thus far, and based on our summer business was likely to be 4th or more realistically 5th choice. £15-20m looked decent really, particularly when we sold a potentially better suited PL prospect in Tosin for £1.8m. Now we’re probably getting half of the original fee and have probably paid out a fair bit in wages too.

Barca on the other hand desperately needed a CB. Chose to strengthen other positions. Have found themselves further short in that area and are struggling in the league. They should’ve paid the small difference to get the player they needed in the summer.

I think the reluctance to do the deal boiled down to boardroom politics between Soriano and the previous incumbents at Barca.

I hope he does well at Barca and it works out for him. I’m not sure he’d have ultimately established himself here anyway.

This is for the long game. Short term yes it’s a loss for this transfer on this player but in the long run it lets people know how we will conduct deals and only on our terms.

Sometimes you speculate a little to gain more.

I think you maybe have missed the point. Soriano made a stand over Garcia. We don’t need their paltry €15 million euros. The real fee for his potential and improvement should have been above €20 million.

Time and time we get screwed selling players. The club/fans want this to change and for us to receive fair market value. City don’t need to learn anything from this episode apart from Barca being sneaky twats and Garcia playing us along.

I agree if a player wants to go we should sell but we should not take a financial hit. Barca should of paid the fee we wanted for the lad and he would have been sold.

This whole drama was created by Barca and Garcia. The only difference this time is that city said fuck off.

Helluva imagination

Nevertheless, clarity should be achieved today. Tusquets will discuss Garcia signing with the 3 candidates to get their approval to do so now in January, irrespective of the election date. Laporta purportedly is against as he does not want to give latitude to Tusquets to delay the election any further but Freixa & Font are apparently for the delay (Probably due to Laporta being a heavy favorite, currently)

Else, it will wait until July to come for free

I don't see it as an urgent matter (Especially when Pique is expected back shortly and Todibo could be recalled from his loan) but supposedly Koeman feels it is necessary and if 2/3 candidates approve the January purchase not sure Tusquets will still have authority to proceed - we are in unchartered territory in principle

The fantasy world you currently reside in is starting to crumble.

City put a value on the player. Barca and Garcia decided to engineer a move for a lower fee/free due to financial mismanagement and the inability to pay fee requested by city.

The cules then directed the narrative by insisting he is “one of our own” and suggested that they should not have to pay for his development at City.

In short: Pay the requested fee and the player would of been sold last summer.

Good luck with the next president, it must be nice to know that FFP does not apply so you can continue to purchase over priced players.Maybe if it was not manipulated by the cartel, Barca would not be in this current mess.

The fantasy is in the valuation, it's known Soriano never intended to sell at any price and no, the player engineered nothing with relation to any fee - he simply wanted to return home. Garcia, per usual, has been very professional

Barca never overpays for 'one of their own' and few understand this better than the principals involved at City who have previously been part of FC Barcelona

It's nice to know a President who cares about the club, its health & success will soon be back at the helm. Moreover, the return of Eric is simply icing on the cake

In short: City loses a player that wants to return home, they declined 18M in August but are apparently open to far less 5 months later or getting nothing an additional 5 months from now

More bollocks from the complete fucking fantasist .

Looking forward to the day both you and Garcia fuck off .
