I think Johnson will lead the Tories into the next election and win it, and there's no way he'll offer another referendum. I think the 2030s is likely to be the next time a referendum is held tbh. Not quite 'once in a generation' but probably disappointing for many Scottish nationalists.
Can't see Johnson leading the tories into 2022, and can't see the tories forming a government after the next election. In fact their best chance would be if Scotland was already independent, so no Scottish mps.

2024 is a long time away.

I think it all depends on what happens with Brexit.

Covid will be long forgotten by then, Brexit, if it’s reasonably a bit shit via a deal and the economy has recovered I think they’ll win.

Scotland is irrelevant to the Tories success, in fact it probably helps them if anything as the Tories always beat Labour there now and the SNP cannot rule in England for obvious reasons. So Scotland is actually a positive if you’re a Tory in terms of seats.

No Tory PM will call another IndyRef without it being clear they’ll vote no, rightly or wrongly, and Labour will want a full term to try and prove to the Scottish people that there’s another way.

I don’t see one happening before 2030 either way and by that time, the landscape will have massively changed and hopefully, hopefully! The uncertainty gone away.

You maybe think I’m an optimist but I just think no PM will want to lose Scotland on their watch, you’ll be remembered throughout history, alongside Sturgeon, as being responsible for the grave issues it will cause.

I almost spat out my cornflakes when I saw this this morning.

Nick Sturgeon should have bigger things to worry about than separatism.

I seen the Scottish Conservatives posted about this and it caused a rather heated debate on who is to blame.

Firstly I'd say drug abuse, on the whole, is caused by poverty, lack of opportunity and education. If you look at large towns that have had their key industries removed (such as coal for example) poverty and drug addiction soar. And there are many, many such towns in Scotland.

Sturgeon has been asking Westminster repeatedly to take the helm in their strategy on fighting drug addiction in Scotland to align with more recent successful strategies. This has been refused repeatedly to the point where drug addiction rooms have been set up in Glasgow regardless.

Now Westminster control drug policy and we follow the hugely outdated 1971 act. Wasting an eye watering amount of funds on methadone simply doesn't work. Many addicts/ ex addicts themselves say its more addictive than heroin itself. No doubt some pockets are being lined somewhere in Westminster with its vast sales.

With policing, health and education all suffering from real time funding cuts from Westminster, and her hands tied with regards to strategy I don't see how she can be to blame. The police chief of London himself stated that following government guidelines of arresting addicts would require 100,000 more officers to police - not to mention the cost of incarceration.

A stupid and nieve claim by the Scottish Tories yes. But it also highlights the vast extent of inequality in Scotland.

And yet she took responsibility. I believe the minister in charge has gone. Some interesting facts about the age profile as well. There seem to be a large number that have been addicts most their adult life. The facts are indefensible though. Something needs drastic change and without additional money it’s difficult to say what.

Most definitely.
I have just pointed out in there too that we don’t recognise your 12 mile exclusion zone and never have.

I still blame Nicola Sturgeon for sending the Scottish navy out there though. All her fault.

Aw shut it, you moaning EUropeans.

Edit. u can have 2 miles back, for some timber at pre-brexit prices
