BBC said that info experience in Israel showed that tests there showed that just having the one jab brought effectiveness down to just 25%
I get my first jab next week but they will be giving me the second whilst millions have not had one all. So they will be doing first and seconds at the same time, an enormous job but l dont seem to have heard them even talk about this.
Has anyone else?

Difficult to believe that 25% number given the *extensive* testing these vaccines went through in the trials. Also,

"So there was understandable concern when the man coordinating Israel's Covid response reportedly suggested a single dose of the Pfizer vaccine might not be as effective as reported.
Thousands of people have tested positive after being jabbed. But are worries premature?

Addressing Prof Nachman Ash's quotes, the Israeli Ministry of Health said: "The comments of the Israeli Covid-19 commissioner regarding the effect of the first dose of the vaccine were out of context and, therefore, inaccurate.
"The commissioner said we have yet to see a decrease in the number of severely ill patients."
The "full protective impact of the vaccine" was expected to be seen soon, a spokesperson added.

Thanks. I will wait and see how it all pans out. Fed up of lockdown but happy to comply with it and wait for second jab

I tried to explain the background behind this earlier.

Short version: too early to tell, but nothing to worry about so far.

Still *very* early days, and there have been many conflicting reports, but if this carries on then it looks great. I hope it's right.

And another update related to the above collaboration between Israel/PFZ data feedback which if replicated globally will be vital for the battle of retaining doctors and nurses on the front line

I struggle to believe this 17% is correct. If so there must be millions of people per day infected, recently weve been processing on average 600k tests a day say at least 75% of them are suffering symptoms then in reality there are 2.6 million people in the UK suffering symptoms every day, absolute bollocks
Of the 630,000 tests yesterday only 6% were positive. That is under 40,000 a day.

Another one for the pessimists. The latest James Bond film has been given another release date. October! I take it that means they aren't expecting people to be allowed back into Cinemas in large numbers this summer then.
They are taking a global view when marketing a movie not deciding it based on whether the Rialto in Scunthorpe will be open.

There is ZERO chance most of the world will be opening cinemas by Spring. But some chance the majority might by October. I would not bet against next year though.

Or if we are really unlucky Daniel Craig attending the premiere in a bath chair.

They need to do what Warner are and release on TV for a nominal fee, a lot of cinemas have closed and I doubt will ever re open, Im used to not going now, I just wish theyd release Top Gun 2

Even in the UK, they had a choice between opening in April with Cinemas at 1/4 capacity in something similar to Tier 1 or 2....or October at 100% capacity.

They are doing first and second jabs at once now and have been since early January. Both numbers are posted in here every day.

They are also constantly increasing the number of places where they are available, getting more and more vaccines on stream and by the time this becomes a real issue in April, will have the capacity to do as many first jabs as now plus the same number of second jabs.

The primary aim is to give everyone vulnerable and over the age of 70 both jabs by April which is achievable.

You do that and eliminate 90% of the risk of serious illness and death.

That is the trade off here and obviously the right one even if it means some of the younger age groups only get a first dose by mid Summer. Though it is quite possible they could do both for all who want one by end of June given all going well. Even one dose to the younger is likely enough to prevent most being very ill from this.

I criticise the government a lit if warranted but so far they are getting the vaccine roll out right when plenty of other nations are not.

So far are the key words though.

Or not opening until 2022.
You don’t know where this crisis is going...

Why are you a teacher if you hate teaching children so much?
Why, as a deputy head, can you not show some leadership to those around you?

You should be celebrating the fact that you have children in school as you are providing an essential service as well as educating them beyond what they would have at home.

Tell me how many nurseries have had to isolate because of Covid?
How many 3-10 year olds have passed on the virus to your litany of people who you feel have been wronged?

From my experience the people passing Covid around in schools are the staff themselves who are unable/unwilling to follow the rules and not inform us when they have the symptoms.

Surely you should be praising and thanking the staff at your school for the commitment they are showing to the children they work with for providing an environment where 72 of the parents are confident to send their children to you, unlike before where they didn’t trust schools.

As a public servant isn’t your primary duty to serve the public? Thank goodness NHS staff aren’t as quick to hide as you are.

My wife teacher tested positive last month on the final day of term. She informed her school and 48 hours later eight of her own class had all tested positive (8 years old) and had shown no symptoms whatsoever.

The headmaster, four teaching assistants and four staff then all tested positive after receiving notification from my wife.

Subsequently, my son tested positive and then I got very ill indeed.

My family don't go anywhere, her school is a two minute drive away, we have never compromised ourselves in any way during this pandemic.

Whatever the narrative being peddled in the media and government, schools and young kids are bringing this home unwittingly.

Which is why we probably won't see kids back until at least after Easter now.

I do not understand this story about the 400 strong wedding party.

They all ran away and so they fine the organiser. Okay

But the guests all chose to break the rules. The organisers know who they all were as they invited them.

They should put the organisers in a police holding cell and let them stay there until they release the names of those present so they all can be fined - not just the handful not quick enough to run away as hundreds did when police arrived.

We need to send a message that this is not something that will be tolerated. You break the rules. You pay.

Some guests were also fined £200 but agreed that all guests should be heavily fined https://www.thejc.com/news/uk/outra...400-person-wedding-at-charedi-school-1.511056
