Political relations between UK-EU

There are Remainers on here who could walk in on the EU shagging their wife and they'd offer to fetch it a beer and light its cigarette.

That‘s a very niche fetish. ‘Trade Bloc Porn’. ‘Horny Housewife Diddled by NI Protocols’, ‘He Agreed To Withdraw, Now She’s Up The Duff!’ ’She Was Gagging For A Jabbing, But He Failed To Deliver!’

We’ve got fuck all grounds to crow about our handling of this pandemic. The numbers speak for themselves. The vaccine roll-out is mitigation, not vindication.

This.

The government’s incompetence has killed the equivalent of a fair sized town. Literally tens of thousands dead.

Their handling of vaccines and the furlough scheme have been their only success stories. Their incompetence verges on the criminal.

The fact that the EU have acted on this issue like a bunch of cunts should not and does not detract from that fact in any way shape or form.

Errrr........ No. How could you possibly think that from what I said?
It is being made all over the planet, unfortunately, it just isn't being made very efficiently in Europe at the moment.
All I said is read the public stuff from when AZ and Oxford University signed their agreement. The interview with the AZ CEO in La Repubblica posted a few pages back is good too.

AZ aren't doing a cheap vaccine out of the goodness of their hearts, it is because Ox Uni and our government have chosen to do it that way.

By the way, the EU are paying €1.78 per dose for the AZ vaccine, and €15.50 for the Pfizer vaccine.
So the price difference over the 400m doses will be just under €6Bn.

They should by saying "thanks" the ungrateful bastards.

And to Vic's last post, the AZ CEO said "best reasonable efforts" was included in the EU contract because of the very short lead times. They wanted same delivery dates as UK with 3 months less to do it. The implication was that there wasn't a similar clause in the UK contract.

Yeah sorry mate I read your post too quickly so your right my response was entirely misplaced to what you said

Both your questions are preposterous and non-sequiturs - and I where did I use the vaccination programme to criticise anything else? Are you aware what the word ‘mitigation’ means?

Ridiculous post.
Are you aware you responded to my post which no doubt responded to another post by someone else which maybe where my point lies.
Ridiculous exchange

Was busy yesterday evening and missed all the fun and games - I have 30 pages to catch up.

I may have missed all sorts of events of yesterday evening - but I would be interested in your take on the actions of the EU last night, seemingly without even showing Ireland the respect of being involved in decision making?

I know that you have previously disagreed with my views that the EU have not always acted through altruism and solely a desire to uphold the GFA. I have suggested that the EU essentially 'opportunistically used' the border issue and I have previously mentioned that Ireland might not find themselves at the 'heart' of EU priorities once Brexit has been done.

In the last days I was reading an article, in the Brussels Times I think, that commented on the acceptance by Ireland that they will have to progress with 'harmonisation' of Corporation Tax - and then you have this action last night. Just feels to me that Ireland might be in for some less welcome EU attention.

Anyway - just interested in your take on things
Good question tag and deserves an answer.
I will get back to you and try to give you something satisfactory.
For now Cmon City.

Pretty cringe isn’t it
my favourite is the one where they pretend to mildly criticise the EU, then put it into ‘context’ then proceed to blame our government.
Honestly the cheek of Us wanting to buy a vaccine and administer it to our own people!!!

Come on then. Quote some of these posts and we’ll see if they’re in your imagination.

The WHO have a dam cheek saying the UK gov shoukd just vaccinate the top four vunerable groups then ease off. We paid for the development and placed our order before most others. we have also pledged much much more than any other country in the EU to the covax global vaccination programme. My Tax paid for that vaccine, being mid 50s i am at risk the same as everyother uk person not vaccinated. There would be uproar if the UK gave vaccines away to other countries before all of us here have had both doses.

Even more so as Oxford/Astra Zeneca is being manufactured under licence round the world, with Serum in India as the biggest vaccine producer globally. It will also be supplied at cost in perpetuity to poorer countries at the insistence of the UK government.

What are you talking about? You asked me two questions that bore no relation to my post. If you’re referring to another post, or poster, it really would assist if you expressly stated so (which you conspicuously did not) otherwise what you post can be subject to misinterpretation and mean you will struggle to convey your message.

exactly, you have to look after your own first. The jealousy seeping through is palpable. At the end of the day if organisations such as the WHO had done their jobs properly we wouldn't be in this position globally.

See where they’re coming from to an extent. If the virus goes through the poorer countries unchecked and mutates into something worse, it’s no good that somewhere like Canada has ordered enough vaccine for 4 times their population.

Credit to our govt in being one of the biggest donors to Covax. I hope we and others are thinking beyond ourselves for the rollout.

There's a difference between thinking beyond ourselves and sacrificing our own wellbeing, which wouldn't acceptable policy from any government to its people in such circumstances.

The WHO need to grow a pair and sort china out
Then the rest of us might actually take them seriously
Pandemic, what pandemic? China said there isn’t one
