I don't think they are good enough to win it, and I seriously doubt their credentials to make top 4. They simply are not a good enough side to be a threat to us, and I don't see things changing in the foreseeable future.
My reasoning being that it is as it's always been - media hype. Glittering headlines from the rag-loving media about Penandez, Pogbad, Saint Rashford and whoever else is flavour of the month do nothing to conceal the fact that these players are simply not all that.
Let's be realistic, not one of the rags would get into our side, and probably not the dippers either. Maybe one or two might get into the Arsenal or Spuds side, but as for the rest - probably not even Steve Bruce would be interested (actually, that's going way too far: Bruce would sign someone who once walked past the swamp just for the rag connection).
Had it not been for some decidedly sinister refereeing decisions the vermin would be below mid-table, of that I'm sure. So fuck 'em, they're an irrelevance: nothing to concern ourselves about. Let their players get on with sustaining their Hollywood lifestyle, their social media presence, their insatiable hunger for the limelight, and we'll just get on with the job of going out and playing football - after all, that's why we're here.
i'm naturally pessimistic so maybe my opinion aint worth shit, but I dont think they're a terrible side, just a distinctly average (and sometimes poor) side that are benefitting greatly from sporadic form across the league.
I dont take any stock in what the media have to say. I think Rashford is talented but far too erratic, Wan Bissaka should force a move to further his career and that Fernandes would probably get on our bench. The rest are junk.
I do think that something changes a dozen games from the end, teams sense the finish line a start to dig in. No doubt they've had their penalty luck, and surely cannot keep winning from losing positions like they do (once that stops they really are knackered). So i am hoping February is very unkind to them and they simply fall away.
I think Liverpool and Leicester should then become the main title threat to us.
