RBS appointed a board member. I don’t understand how that’s not classed as in administration.
Wouldn't they have had points deducted if they were in administration or did the rules change afterwards ?
They were in a mess and my point was around their hypocrisy when incorrectly saying we're state funded when technically they were state funded via a loan from a state owned bank.

We get the bad press because of islamophibia and our owners backgrounds. How dare Arab owners mix it with the rest and are even successful!

I really doubt that.

If the rags or dippers were taken over by the Saudis, do you think the media would turn on them?

I don’t either.

If HHSM had bought the rags, the articles about how much good he has done for the city and the area would be rammed down your throat at every opportunity. Just look at how they treat Rashford and his (wholly admirable) campaign to feed hungry kids, and then imagine the entire club and its owners getting the same praise. Then times it by a thousand.

What we are facing isn’t racism. It is greed.

Yes, especially now that we are dominating. I’ve always conceded that we get bad press in certain quarters but also I believe some of our fans are ridiculously paranoid about it and see ghosts where there are none. It’s understandable: we used to be liked by everyone but now we aren’t.
We were liked when we weren't a threat to the established "top clubs".

If you have not woken up to smell the coffee pal you never will. We get the bad press because of islamophibia and our owners backgrounds. How dare Arab owners mix it with the rest and are even successful! Had City’s owners been American they would have written articles of the greater good that City were doing. The narrative and stereotypes created by the media is intended to stick long term and fit into a broader political agenda of the how the west want to influence the Middle East. Our owners are smart, wise and excellent in commerce and the media have struggled but they keep trying from different angles. Some of it sticks but others does not. I see where they are coming from and a lot of our clued fans do. But the herd...well that’s media manipulation at work!
I’m not sure it’s necessarily to do with that if I’m honest. If any of United, Liverpool or Arsenal had been taken over by an Arab, the fawning and sycophancy would have continued in the media. FFP would never have been brought into existence because they were already established within the cartel, so the Champions League ban and subsequent court battle would never have happened.
The hatred within the game is because there was an established order that City have turned on its head, and the hatred within the media is because journalists have cosied up to the cartel clubs for years to get clicks from their fan bases bringing revenue.
Perhaps one day City will be accepted within this cartel but I for one hope that day never comes, I enjoy rubbing people up the wrong way too much.

Personally I think it's a mixture of greed and racism depending on who is spewing their bile.

BBC Sport are reporting that the Everton game was called off at our request - is that right?
From ESPN;

In addition, a statement from the Premier League read: "Manchester City lodged a request with the Premier League today to rearrange the game following an increase in positive COVID-19 test results received by the club this morning, on top of the cases reported on Christmas Day.

"This rise has created uncertainty and the Premier League Board received medical advice that the match should be postponed. The Board agreed to rearrange the game as a precaution, and further testing will now take place tomorrow.

"The decision has been taken with the health of players and staff the priority.

"The Premier League continues to have full confidence in its protocols and rules, and the way in which all clubs are implementing them.

"The League wishes those with COVID-19 a safe and speedy recovery and will rearrange the postponed fixture against Everton in due course."

So yes, the BBC have managed to get their facts right, for once. However I’m not sure what they’re getting at by including this line? (I am). It’s not like Everton would have requested the postponement due to City having a Covid outbreak.

Let’s just hope on the 17th Everton as full strength and we spank them.

There’s certainly an element of racism, eg the treatment Sterling gets, but as I say you don’t see the adulation over Mo Salah and Sadio Mane toned down because one’s an Arab and the other’s black. In the main it’s chasing clicks, because that’s how so many journalists earn their money.

Yeah, that's the narrative for the rest of the season: City and Liverpool's positions are reversed because Dias is having the same effect on City that Van Dyke had on Liverpool because City never replaced Kompany despite spending billions on defenders.

You will hear that several thousand times from several thousand pundits, all talking as though they invented it and there won't be a mention of Van Dykles £90 million fee but lots of mentions of Dias's £60 million fee.
And even less mentions of the fact that Dias came from Benfica and Otamendi (valued at £15m) went to Benfica as part of the deal meaning Dias cost us a lot less than £60m.

So if I recall correctly, because of the short period between our game against Newcastle and Everton, there wasn't much time to get results back from COVID tests. In the event of an outbreak, normally there's supposed to be a window where a plan of action can be taken, but with City we got a bunch of positive tests before the Newcastle game and then even more on the day of the Everton game. It couldn't have been earlier because we'd just played Newcastle and the tests from the next day needed time to be processed.

So City and the PL discussed options and they decided that due to the very short notice it was possible more City staff had COVID and it could be dangerous to both other City personnel and Everton personnel as it was incredibly likely there was an outbreak at the club. I believe initially the PL weren't too bothered but City pushed for it and common sense prevailed.

So it's less City requested the game be called off, it's more City requested that the PL treat this as a serious matter and once they did the PL made the obvious decision to postpone the game.

However all this occurred over a very short time frame and Everton weren't involved in the discussions too much (and why should they have been? It was about whether it was safe for City to play or not). Hence the mardy statement on their end and the subsequent online joke/meme, "Everton are demanding full disclosure for this", because they were too stupid to realise this was about containing an outbreak as opposed to having a squad available.

Which btw, as we showed at Chelsea, we only need half a squad to beat most teams. An out of form, injury-depleted Everton should be grateful.

I don't see too much criticism aimed towards Henry, Kroenke etc. and outside the Rags fanbase I don't see too much criticism of the Glazers in comparison with a lot of the negativity aimed towards HRH SM.

The "grinning beards" comment when the Saudis were looking to buy Newcastle in a prominent national newspaper springs to mind and if that isn't racially motivated I don't know what is.

Like I said it depends in who the author is, some are purely chasing clicks but many are also using a racist undertone as it mirrors their own views and appeals to many of the brain dead bigots that hang in their every word.

Is this the most poorly timed article ever?

Anyone think of anything else?
Articles and quotes that didn't quite go right. You could start a thread. Takes me back to 2012, about 4 games left, Talkshite interview Sir David Of Beckham. "David who do you think will win the league? United was the reply. Why? Well its wot they do innit.

The grinning beards comment is plainly racist in origin, as was some of the treatment of Sterling. I’ve no doubt that there is some racism at the heart of some content, just as there is a racist section of some parties of the media’s readership. But overwhelmingly it seems to me that the coverage we get is pro rag/dipper in origin rather than anti dark face. This is only my opinion, of course, but you get 5he explanation by following the money.

I think fundamentally we agree that it's a mixture of both.
I don't remember Abramovich getting as much abuse about his business dealings and connections as our owners have and continue to receive though.

I hope city are never accepted and we win the lot year in year out whilst watching the media squirm ....we set trends break records and pep has revoulutionised the way football is played out from the back .....thats the beauty of this club win or lose......
I love this club and I enjoy the green-eyed monsters looking on at us trying their best to find a way to discredit us. ......stay humble blues ....and enjoy the ride!

True,

Then again much of the criticism has come from those with close links to Qatar.

Like you say, different motivation from different sectors.
