556. 997 first doses given - 33, 952 yesterday - was 32, 472 day before

2471 second doses given - 836 yesterday - was 419 day before.

Both of these numbers yesterday are a new record for Wales.

Me and the missus jabbed this morning. Both in our 40s with shit health . Got jabbed together .

alty all well organised and efficient . Oxford AZ both feel absolutely fine.

we asked one question at the end. Can we have a glass of wine tonight?
Great news, hope it causes no ill feelings.

What was the answer on wine...

As I feared and have been warning about in here for a week or two the midlands and north west are becoming the most infected places in the UK with all the southern regions slipping behind them.

This weekly Pop score table is from 5 day old data as usual but the past few days have not altered the trend.

Note also that whilst Yorkshire continues to by some margin be the least infected region outside the south, the south west followed the other southern regions and has plummeted too and is now back as best in UK as it long has been.

RECALL THAT ON THIS LIST THE LOWER DOWN YOU ARE THE BETTER YOU ARE DOING AS WITH ALL POP SCORES

Here is the latest list:

Region // Weekly Pop Today // Weekly Pop last week // Up/down %

West Midlands // 326 // 428 // down 24%

North West // 286 // 380 // down 25%

London // 283 // 449 // down 37%

East Midlands // 279 // 352 // down 21%

East // 261 // 366 // down 29%

North East // 247 // 287 // down 15%

South East // 228 // 336 // down 32%

Yorkshire // 202 // 237 // down 15%

South West // 176 // 238 // down 26%

Things to notice. Everywhere is falling but some more than others, hence the shift in positions.

If you follow my nightly posts on Greater Manchester you will know as of last night (so 5 days newer than the above) EVERY borough in GM has a weekly Pop score on the same basis as the above regional ones are created between a score of 200 and 274.

Trafford at 200 is just below Yorkshire, Bolton at 274 just below East Midlands. Six of the ten GM boroughs have Pop Scores lower than the North East - so in the 'bottom' third (as in the best) in the above regional list.

So in essence GM right now is better off than the North West in that list as a region. Every GM borough is below the 286 regional score for the NW.

My dad sits in the next block. I made my way over to him after, tapped him and went “never in doubt!” And he just turned round, laughed and hugged me for the first time in my life with tears in his eyes.
We wandered into town had a few pints together in Monroes then I bid him goodbye. Remember waving to him as he stood at bottom of Piccadilly approach. He looked like he´d just emerged from the trenches, utterly shell-shocked, barely able to wave and shaking his head. He´d have been 75 then. He looked 275.

Guess we just hit our peak a bit later than other places. As long as its coming down still I don't see any reason to worry.

No, I agree.

The fall in patients and ventilators in the NW was a little behind the others too.

But in the past week has been happening and as of last night was 3440 in hospital v 4136 the week before and 354 on ventilators v 399 week before.

So now falling much like the southern regions have been doing for a week or so longer.

Addendum to the Wales vaccination data on last page:

Just under 85% of all over 80 in Wales have had at least one vaccination.

78% of care home residents have been vaccinated along with 81% of care home staff.

Storm darcy is coming tomorrow, snow and freezing , that will have a knock on effect on vaccinations in some areas
This is when you need first subs . If people can’t make it or are scared to go out because of the weather , they should cancel their appointment and someone younger who is willing to travel out could then take the vaccine. Of course if the weather is that bad and the vaccine administrators can’t get to centres then yes it could be a problem.

Rang our surgery to see if they were taking names of people who could be there within 15 mins they reckon their not allowed

That is a good idea, might give my surgery a ring on monday and see if they have a reserve list

All vulnerable groups will by vaccinated by April. Isn’t it time to get on with life then? This virus isn’t going to disappear is it.
Depends if they keep listening to SAGE
They would have us locked down until 2030 if they had there way!
Complete doom merchants

Those care home resident and staff figures don’t seem that great.

Greater Manchester is one of the best areas in the UK for having vaccinated people in the 70 - 74 age group.

Latest figures show that only South East London who have vaccinated 68.9% in that age range are at a higher level than GM.

GMs data shows 86.5% of over 80s have had one jab and 12.8% have had both.

In the 75 - 79 age group 88.1% have been vaccinated

And in the 70 - 74 group 56%

This is NHS England data as of yesterday.
