Which is why a big part of their game plan was to 'accidentally' smash Gundy and try and put him out of action in the first couple of minutes.Rodri isplaying very much like Busquets. He appears to be playing deeper than before which is giving him more space to use his qualities. Gundo is the player teams are trying to press but he is too skillful for them to dispossess and start counter attacks against us.
Rodri now has cancelo and to a lesser extent Zinchenko dropping in to cover him so he stop forward and play closer to the oppositions box without getting caught: earlier in the season with Walker and Mendy bombing down the line all the time he was getting exposed. This same tactical change has given out attacking midfielders more space to play in.Rodri isplaying very much like Busquets. He appears to be playing deeper than before which is giving him more space to use his qualities. Gundo is the player teams are trying to press but he is too skillful for them to dispossess and start counter attacks against us.
It takes a lot to make me laugh on a Monday but by fuck this has... Brilliant..!
Said exactly the same last night.A few seasons ago when they did us 4-3, Eddy made a couple of similar errors, but it was all down to their brilliant forwards putting us under pressure. This time it’s all about could have been a draw and cold feet. Okay, the latter may be tongue in cheek but it was mentioned by Tyler on commentary, their manager after the game and on motd. Funny shit.
Have to say, fair dues to Oliver, straight out with a card even 2 minutes in with none of the 'too early' bullshit and it looked like he warned them he wasn't tolerating it.Which is why a big part of their game plan was to 'accidentally' smash Gundy and try and put him out of action in the first couple of minutes.
Shithouse team.
@domalino @BillyShears
Happy to accept was wrong about Zinchenko starting, however has to be accepted I was right he’d have to defend all game as he never went forward, but didn’t matter as he was magnificent. Dias’ fault that his only time he let Salah go it cost us.
Absolutely. Patience is a virtue.Really good post, agree with everything. Just listened to Football Weekly and there were a fair few journos having to eat their words about Foden (some very seriously wanted to ship him out on loan to get kicked about in the Championship, what a bunch of jokers). The most impressive thing about Foden's development last night, but this season, is that it's like he's still serving his apprenticeship. He's still being asked to go play and different roles, in different positions, in different types of games because Pep would prefer to sacrafice short term gains for longer term development of Foden. We have a lot to thank Pep for, A LOT, but if Foden keeps working hard and grows up a bit off the field we could still be benefitting from that in 10 or 15 years time.
Zin was my MoM, i have never seen Salah so quiet in a big game.Was a fantastic performance from Zin. Played more as a left back than he normally does, and as you say didn't really push ahead of Sterling or Gundo on that side, but at the same time kept Salah pocketed. Lovely stuff.
Anyone mentioned that young lad from Stockport in this thread? Think he's got a bright future in the football stuff.
I though Oliver was reluctant to give it, and but for the injury he wouldn't have bothered. He didn't have a choice in fairness as it was a yellow all day long in any minute of the game.Have to say, fair dues to Oliver, straight out with a card even 2 minutes in with none of the 'too early' bullshit and it looked like he warned them he wasn't tolerating it.
Don't think he was reluctant, he just wanted a word.I though Oliver was reluctant to give it, and but for the injury he wouldn't have bothered. He didn't have a choice in fairness as it was a yellow all day long in any minute of the game.
CL Final 2018?Zin was my MoM, i have never seen Salah so quiet in a big game.
Specialist penalty kicker!
I wouldn’t give those wankers the air space. Do yourself a favour and stay away from their forum because it has no decorum
Haha we should invest in a special teams unit for setpieces. Bring on a specially trained basketball team coached in heading all at least 6'10" but still let Eddie take penaltiesSpecialist penalty kicker!
Surely we could use the concussion sub rule to get him on for a few mins like in American Football?
Livarpool would be fuckedIf Carlsberg did weekends...
