Liverpool (A) Post Match Thread

Don't know if anyone else noticed but I watched the game without the crowd noise and every time City put a tackle in a massive shout of "HAYE" came from the Scouse bench. Is that how they have been gaining advantage with the Referees? When the crowds were there probably all the bench would join in. Cheating Bastards!!!!

When you look at Salah's dive again, you can see Salah push his arm into Ruben's chest in order to ward of a tackle. Dias is trying to push away the arm without any significant pull or sustained hold. In the final outcome it didn't deny us a win, but it could have done. With Salah's reputation, you would think ref's would be a little less gullible. I recall back in the late 60's how Franny Lee got a reputation amongst ref's and was denied a few genuine penalties because of it.
I’ll be honest with you I thought it was a penalty all day long and we would have been fucked off if it had been the other way round . He should still be booked for diving though .

Superb 2nd half. Ours to lose now imo but don't see it happening. He'll keep rotating and as long as the defence stays solid we're not going to lose that many
This! Finally we have a defence that believes and trusts each other. And its still *early* days! (rubs hands while sporting a smirking grin! )

Totally agree
It’s time we let Ederson have a go.
Brazilian goalie Ceni amassed over 130 career goals for his club. He was a set piece specialist. Most were pens but I think a substantial number were free kicks too.
Please let Ederson have a go Pep.
It would cement his legendary status no doubt...
Hmmm I remember Stepney being the Penalty taker for that other lot(utd) and their strikers being derided for their inability. He had to run pretty quick back to his goal on the rare occasions he missed.

Two exceptional full backs who rarely get beaten but were made to look like stumps.
Foden also ripped the hearts out of Henderson and Mane and Robertson and that daft twat in net, all at the same time. Wallop.
He took Robertson off to avoid further embarrassment as phil ripped him aoart . And if you noticed right from the off they attacked Allison every time he had the ball so I think that was a tactic we employed.

It would be a proper old 'typical city' moment for this to happen to Ederson in a final.

Eddy won’t miss. He will either score or break the opposing goalie it he gets in the way.
Only risk is that if he hits the bar it could rebound into our net.

We were just better than them, it was that simple. Some aspects stood out to me.

1. I have never seen Salah so quiet in a big game, Zincho played him superbly.

2. Dias is human, his mistake though rather than damaging us, spurned us on and the togetherness we showed stood out.

3. Gundog. Missed the penalty, scored twice and never stopped with his passing , he never hid, a real testament to his character.

4. Raz made one of the "worlds" best full backs look like a sunday league player when he ran at him at him and he broke his hoodoo. An important moment

5. Rodri was immense, he dominated the midfield, made important interceptions, passed the ball intelligently and was a real physical presence, He plays very differently to Ferna but on yesterdays showing he is the heir.

6. The whole team worked so hard, everyone played their part and whilst some had games that didnt show them at their best, you can not fault any of them for their work rate and willingness to press, close down, tackle and support each other

and 7

Fuck me maybe Pep was right in what he said about Phil and Messi. He was magnificent. He is so talented it is scary,. His goal was Messi like, but what impressed me more than that, was the last minute he was still chasing back and working hard. That is ingrained in him now and he is one of our very own. He is defo making a lot of the opinionated journos who thought he would never get a chance to play/should go out on loan look very silly. I loved how Ederson ran the full length of the pitch to celebrate his goal with him, it meant a fucking awful lot to them all.

Its a nice feeling on a monday morning, lets hope our heads on the Swansea game, as their records to be broken and silverware to win.

Come on City we could win the lot again

My man.

I had a quick look at your post that started this, and from what I can see you came on, said you was wrong and that was that - most people don’t say they were wrong so when someone does folk should respect that. Other blokes probably just trying to be funny rather than trying to be a tool. Pay no heed to it mate, we’re all blues
Thanks for that mate. I don’t want to fall out with any of my esteemed fellow blues. I worship you all and we all love our team more than anything.
Although I live in the South West I go along on a bus with our supporters club to Manchester City whenever I can. Ive met lots of Manchester Blues, who I feel are the most down to earth, friendly guys I have ever met.

Had a look at your posts and I don't think you were that wrong in what you were saying, so i wouldn't listen too much. I was also frustrated with our forward line in the first half, especially the players you've mentioned. Second half they were all world class. Keep the opinions coming pal, that's part of the beauty of football, the chat.
Brilliant mate. Thanks so much for your kind words. It’s appreciated a lot.

Well- where to start on yesterday's game...

WOW, WOW, WOW ! I am still fucking buzzing. We put them to the sword and Klopp blaming the cold after was gold.

After the West Ham game earlier in the season i was v concerned about how we were playing but the turnaround since then has been simply phenomenal and that is simply down to Pep being a genius coach.

My take on the individuals that started yesterday :

Ederson- Clearly proved he is better than Allison yet again

Cancelo- Pretty much transformed into the worlds best RB.
Stones- Outstanding. I said before the season started if he could get his head right he'd be a huge asset. He is a rock.
Dias- What a leader. Salah dived and it was clear for everyone to see.
Zin- This lad deserves a huge amount of credit. Been excellent all season and earned a new contract. I'd still sign a new LB in summer if we can ship Mendy out but he should be kept as a key squad player.

Rodri- Taken him time to settle but now he has he is arguably the worlds best holding mid. Plays the Busquets role better than Busquets himself.
Gundo- Incredible. What a player. Along with Dias he is in contention for player of the season.
Bernardo - The real Bernie is back and it's a fucking joy to watch. Ran his arse off as usual and that dink over Alisson-WOW.

Foden- I hate labelling players this and that but he is comfortably the best young player in the world and he's one of us. When he scored the fourth it was a hairs on your neck moment. He is truly special.
Sterling- Made a mockery of Trent and finally scored at Anfield for us. Excellent Raz.
Mahrez- Had a quiet game by his high standards this season.
Wow!! What a great assessment of Sunday’s team. Well done sir. I doth my cap to you.
