The most frustrating thing for me is the suggestion Liverpool have been the greatest ever team for the past three seasons and this is probably to be expected. They've won the CL and the league since Klopp has been there. Two trophies. Meanwhile we've won the league back-to-back with record points and added the league cup three years in a row and the FA Cup in one of those seasons to be the first side to win the domestic treble. Last year was our blip. This year is standard Liverpool. Record points, record goals, record wins. Liverpool had a very good season last year but it's not in any record books. And the season before that they had an even better one but, oh yes, we still beat them.

Win the league this year and that's three in 4 years and five in 10 years.

The idea that Liverpool are a great team in the way that Pep's City are is laughable to me; I am of course biased.

I am not one of those City supporters who claims not to give a damn about the Champions League but the domestic title will always be more important to me. However, I very much want to see us win the Champions League because I want to win everything but ti would be a bonus to shut people up going on about it and maybe, just maybe, to get City a bit more of the kudos that they deserve.

After the Dipper Demolition, we are on 50 points, played 22 games.
16 games to go, max 48 points, max total 98 points.

Rags P23, pts 45, max 90 pts. They're not going to win the lot.
Draw at least one or more and probably lose at least one or more, but max 88pts, realistic maybe 80pts.

Dippers P23, pts 40, max 85 pts. They could win the lot. But unlikely.

Total 88 points to be champions on GD even if rags win the lot.
Need 38 points to finish with 88pts.
L2, D2, and W12 gives 38 pts.

35pts will probably be more than enough.
L3, D2, and W11 gives 35 pts.
L1, D5, and W10 gives 35 pts.

I know it is easy to get carried away after the Liverpool result. Paddy power pay out, rags playing down their chances as the scousers are now doing. The media is busting a gut to put the pressure on us now to slip up.

We have won fuck all and need to stay grounded. One game at a time blues.

I think you mean 'grudging' admiration ;)

We must be the only team in world football in the last three seasons to hit Liverpool for 5-0, 4-0 and 4-1, and they still try to find excuses.

Add it to a Community Shield win and penalty misses from both Mahrez and KDB, and this fixture has increasingly become a mis-match.
Very fair point Tol, my Liverpool supporting mate asked me about 18 months ago when was the last time we’d beaten them, I remind him of the 5-0 win which had slipped his mind. If it were the other way round the media would let anyone forget.

At our current rate of 2.27 Pts per game we would finish with 86 points
Rags 1.95 would get 74
Leicester 1.86 would get 71
Liverpool 1.73 would get 66

Proves nothing but we are currently in a strong position but I don’t subscribe to the view that it’s all over, we come from behind to win it in 2012, 2014 and 2019, if we take our foot of the gas we could be on the other end of such a comeback.

I think it’s natural to be worried having supported this club this long but what I am seeing is a side who have their hunger back, their team spirit back, their belief in the manager back and a manager who has completely bamboozled the opposition with his tactics in the last 14 games. We are the team to beat but nobody is beating us, Arsenal in cup blown away, Chelsea blown away, United in cup blown away, Liverpool blown away. The press is back, hunting like a pack of Wolves when they lose the ball, the swagger is back in some players, the will to win is back. Everything I see from the this points to a 90 point season (maybe one loss and a couple of draws). From what I see elsewhere, I’d be surprised if any of them get more than 82 and that is being generous.

And on a similar point United would need to get 2.33 to get to 80 while City would need to drop to 1.67 for that to go to goal difference. To put that into context, United will need to have centurion season from from for the rest of the season and City would need to have the worst form since 08-09.

We could be 2nd in 2 games though, it can change so quickly with one decision in one game like a keeper sent off. 1/16 to win it with the median group of bookies, but in reality it doesn't feel like that to me. I am 65% certain not 93%.

I'm not going to tell people not to be nervous, and I'm not celebrating anything myself, and I don't doubt for a second Pep is drilling the boys with the need to be disciplined and take one game at a time. I'm just pointing out how unprecedentedly bad we'd have to be and how unprecedentedly good United and even more so Leicester would have to be to take advantage.

I personally think we'll be the only team to finish with 80+ points.

That means:
United dropping 11 more points from a possible 45. (P15, W11, D1, L3 - I don't even think they'll do this well)
Leicester dropping 9 more points from a possible 45.
Everton dropping 9 points from a possible 51.
Villa dropping 7 points from a possible 51.
Liverpool dropping 6 points from a possible 45.
Chelsea and West Ham dropping 5 points from a possible 45.
Spurs dropping 5 points from a possible 48.
Leeds dropping 1 point from a possible 48.

Yes another 30 will do us 9 wins 3 draws and 4 defeats will do,but I think we will get more than 30 pts.

I’ve got us winning the league with 87 points finishing 12 points above the runners up

In a normal season I would agree but this season I don't think thats true.

Sheff Utd are 12, West Brom 11 and Fulham 8 points from 17th spot. Relagation is pretty confirmed for those three. Once relegation is confirmed these teams sometimes have a few surprise results as the players relax and accept their fate.
Fair comment, and I hope you are right, but we’ve seen some Houdini acts over the years. We’ve also seen us catch up Liverpool in 2014, being 9 points behind with only 5 games to go (remember slippy Gerard). My point is.....it’s not won until it’s won, so we shouldn’t count our chickens just yet.

The good thing is is we can win the league with a few games to spare and fully utilise the squad for the remaining league matches. With important CL games and FA Cup game/s still to play with a fully fit KDB and Aguero and a rested squad it’s hopefully happy days ahead.

84-85 points will win it comfortably. I think we will easily make that total. 11 or 12 wins out of the remaining 16 games. (8 against rivals, 8 against lower placed teams). Our record against rivals so far is 1.75 points per game, against others is 2.57points per game. Replicate that and we finish on 85 points. I think we will beat that comfortably.

This Time of the year u can drive urself mad thinking of all the permutations and final tables ,

so here it is

it’s not really about how many points we will finish on ,it’s about finishing at least 1point more than the team that finishes 2nd(or goal difference, but let’s not go there yet!)

the way it stands at the moment the team that finishes 2nd(utd favourite at this point) will have to probably show champions winning form to the end of the season and average minimum 2 points per game !

that would as it stands give Utd another 30 points so 75 in total

therefore 76 will probably be enough which for us is another 26 points from 16 games !

with the way the season has gone up to know ,the condensed season to come ,Europe, most of the challengers still in fa cup 2 points a game to the end of the season would be remarkable

there is a reason why we are 1-16 to win it !
The bookies don’t just luck at form , they also look at the probabilities,

it’s ours to lose

Of coarse we could fall of a cliff ourselves u cannot discount this ?

but the probabilities say other wise

9 wins will see us home ,maybe even less!

I still don't understand why some City fans don't want to win the CL. I get UEFA are corrupt and the history boys are doing everything to ban us or slander our club, but the best way to stick it to them is to win the CL.

It would be a huge punch in the face for UEFA to see City lift it. We've got to go and win it. Fuck booing the anthem. That gets us very few points. Seeing City lift it is the ultimate fuck you to UEFA.

Always think it’s odd that those that say they aren’t interested in c/ l because UEFA is corrupt and hate us, will also probably tell you the Premier League and the FA are corrupt and hate us.

Looking at the table this morning, I think you're right.

United have 15 games left and are on 45pts. There will not be some ridiculous upturn in form from any other side over more than 10 games. Our run has been unbelievable, I don't see another side suddenly winning 15 in a row. They might win 10/11 out of the 15 and draw the remaining.

If you stick 37pts (11wins + 4 draws) on United's total that's 82pts. That would be some effort from them to get to that total as well. Especially with Europa league football to look forwards to. It's not happening. They'll lose a few and draw a few more too. 80pts will win it this season.
