Without trying to score any points, how do those who were vehemently against football being played during the pandemic feel now? I'm watching matches daily as I don't watch TV otherwise. Obviously I'd prefer to be back watching in person but I'd have fuck all entertainment if football had been forced to stop.
I was absolutely dead set against it, no fans no football. I said I won’t bother watching any games.

I take it all back, football (and definitely not just because City are performing), is dragging me kicking and screaming through this lockdown. Genuinely don’t know what I’d do with it.

didn't like it when we were losing, loving it at the moment, guess i'm a plastic armchair fan

I didn’t get into it in the first wave. I wasn’t watching any games other than City but then wasn’t even celebrating City’s goals. I hated it to be honest!

I still barely watch other games other than City but have started to fist pump and cheer goals. Still not celebrating like I normally would, and still not properly enjoying it but I’m not hating it anymore.

Just heard BOJO saying 100% of over 80s in the North East have now had the vaccine. My mother is 84 and still waiting for her appointment. We live in Co Durham
Has she got special requirements such as needing a home vaccination? If not you can book online as I did last week and I'm 66. There is absolutely no need to phone or wait for an appointment.

Update on vaccine side effects, having had the AZ jab yesterday.

Felt a bit weird and “not quite there”, if you know what I mean, for about an hour. That passed quickly.

Had really cold hands all day, but manageable.

Now, all that is left is a slightly sore arm.

Its totally worth having and we need to try to convince the naysayers that it’s no big deal and our quickest route to normality.

I know of a few people that have had really bad sickness and shakes during night. All of them overweight. Think there must be a link there.

Looking at the figures so far the take up is incredibly high compared to any vaccine previously. You will never achieve 100% take up but as the roll out continues and those that won't have it see their unvaccinated family and friends still falling ill and possibly dying because of Covid I'd expect a further increase in take up in all groups after the vast bulk of the population has been done.

She has phoned & they will get back to her next week. Just pointing out it's not 100%.

But why is that? They are begging anyone who hasn't been vaccinated in your mother's group to come forward, even at the expense of deliberately delaying the roll out to younger groups in many areas. What have you done to ensure your mother receives her vaccination? Have you tried to book an appointment online but have been unable to do so?

I'm assuming when the vaccine update is given tomorrow, there will be details of how they plan to proceed from here. I assume the target will be over 50s for the next 6 weeks, but then we get to the stage where lots in the 70+ bracket will need their 2nd injection. I wonder whether they will be able to up the already impressive rate of ~3 million per week?

I think we're into the 65-70s next week and possibly 16-65 in at at-risk groups?

Sadly, I believe the Pfizer supply is projected to decline for a couple of weeks. Scottish gvt were forecasting temporary dip.

By the time we need to be dishing out 3 million second shots a week supply should be much better. Pfizer has reduced deliveries whilst it ups its production process but that is for a week or so. By the end of next month we should be receiving our Moderna orders too.

I'd expect a rate of 6 million a week easily as we have added loads of extra capacity but we currently lack supply.

Perfectly reflects my views and experiences.

Yeah it was the supply I was worried about. But if we can overcome that, and with a more mobile population in the lower age groups + better weather, I'm being optimistic in thinking we might be able to hit ~5 million a week.

If we do, I reckon we could get to the stage where every adult has had at least one shot by the start of June.

I think it will be quite a bit sooner than that. The government is under promising and over delivering on vaccination. There is also the one shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine lurking in the wings.
