I suppose it’s offset by the number of people who die after 28 days that aren’t included.

And I was just pointing out that you appear to have sat back and not made any particular effort to get your Mum vaccinated quicker.

It depends what you mean by recorded as a covid death.
If someone has a positive test for covid and gets hit by a bus and dies within 28 days of it being first tested the quick counting system for deaths on the daily news will count it as a covid death. However the ONS will only record what is written on the death certificate and what is likely to be written on the death certificate is multiple trauma and Covid is unlikely to be recorded.

No system of recording deaths is completely perfect but the ONS numbers are likely to be a pretty good estimate though it may have underestimated a little in the early stages when testing was not extensive and people with it probably did not get to hospital.
 
Fantastic news on 15 million jabs. A monumental effort, slowly we are getting ourselves back.
That said Boris needs to reign in his allies a bit, contradictory statements today on vaccine passports to go with the contradictory statements the other day on holidays.
He really need to do the press bulletins every day from now to avoid confusing the public.

Not sure what your statistical chance of dying in a road accident in the UK is. Or what your statistical chance of dying of Covid is but I would imagine the chances of them both combining to happen to you within 28 days of each other would be so tiny as to be insignificant.

This discussion about the stats on the number of Covid deaths is ridiculous. None of theses stats are going to be perfect but even if the 'best' of them was 25% too high its still an incredible number and far higher than any other cause in the last 11 months.

I would agree but there is no guarantee on which one you can have. I think someone on here has posted that they had one vaccine whereas the other half has had the other and I personally know of another couple that has happened to.
It would be tempting to say that you can only make say three appointments and if don't go through with it then you go to the back of the queue. However as attending is voluntary I don't believe it would be practical.

Exactly what happened with my mum and her partner. My mum had Pfizer x 2 whereas he got the AZ.

Not complaining mind, lol.

why? it's on the government to provide choice and the necessary stocks. This vaccine lottery is unhelpful.
