I think that Post-Covid situation is finally over.

After Covid he gained a little bit weight and was out of form.

Now we are watching that "vanilla" Jesus :D.. Some movements today reminded me of
last season and especially the Madrid games.

I hope goals will come as well. It has been a long time since he scored more than one goal in a single game..

Frustrated for him on account of the goals, but the players in this line up (perhaps aside from sterling, who still had some great interior touches) have such command and control over the ball (cancelo is a freak of nature) and such good movement that we’re finally opening the right spaces for more runners and central in-tight finishing and higher conversion.

so even if gabby isn’t scoring, I feel like he’s freeing space up for others, to say nothing of his always consistent defensive work.

the team of late is relentlessly fluid, and you can see it draining the life of opponents. The contrast to the early year’s pass-forever-in-semi-circle-and-take-crap-shot could not be starker.

Thought he was very good today, not as an individual, but as a team player. He put in the hard yards to create space for others.

his press is one of the best. He picks the right time and the right angle.
Nail on head,we are about the collective, and being happy to take one for the team......he makes us better in that department.
Hopefully his stop/start periods are behind him as i feel fitness and confidence are a huge part of his game.

Bit harsh heaping the goalscoring pressure we do on this lad when Pep has him anywhere and everywhere across the midfield and front line. He was everywhere today and excellent again. Not even close to your typical striker, we are lucky to have him.

Winding up Lamela an added bonus for me ;)

The touch map fingy for the first half basically had him as centre mid, gundo, sterling and bernardo were all further forward. Maybe foden

we just dont set up with a traditional striker.... for the moment

Think this is what loads are missing out on. He’s not actually playing as a traditional no.9. Yesterday he was quiet often the deepest of the front line.
When Sky put the players average positions up, Sterling and Foden were highest up the pitch, then Bernardo & Gundogan and Jesus at the bottom of the V.
It seems our defensive strength has come from making it impossible to play through the lines.
The first goal came from Laporte passing through the lines to Jesus, who turned his man and forwards to Gundogan who then exchanged passes with Sterling I think, then was brought down.
We use Jesus in a different way to Aguero. Jesus normally plays a much deeper role. The games where he’s mainly in the box, against the lesser sides he invariably scores.

I’m really not that bothered how many Gabby (or any “striker”) scores if we keep winning games and our forwards all contribute in some way, be it assists, forcing mistakes, creating space for others etc.

Kane won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup and Giroud didn’t score once, but only one of them won the trophy.

He must create confusion all over the place, and not only him.
Gone are the days where you see defender's marking a player with this city team.

New to watching us play?
No, just am absolutely not convinced he offers the amount of value fans here seem to have convinced themselves he does. It's the same type of shite dippers use to excuse why firmino barely does anything. oh he presses. oh he fits the system. yawn.

4 goals in 4 games like all good strikers he buzzes off scoring goals , when he is at the top of his game he is a nightmare for opposition defenders , need to keep him involved and getting game time the more he plays the sharper he gets

Didn't Liverpool win the Champions League with Firmino? And get 196 points over two seasons?

The fact you think Firmino barely does anything really showcases your level of insight.

(Although he's not been very good this year)

Firmino's always been shite and overrated. Liverpool would have been a much better team with a capable striker
