I think he actually had a trial at Sunderland and Peter Reid decided Ali B wasn’t the right player for his long ball hoofers. Called in at City on his way back to France iirc

Nery Castilo came on loan under Sven, apparently paid some of the loan fee himself? Remember being quite excited by his arrival, the excitement didnt last long.
