Barca has only remained moderately competitive in the last three years because Messi has chosen to stick around while the ship has been sinking.

Messi has been the constant, which tells you that everything that has come in since has been bang average.

The guy deserves to stop carrying an entire club on his back.

It says everything now about City as a club that he wouldn't have to do that here.

So a guy who still scores 30-plus a season, isn't dragged down by politics and is surrounded by players who can make arguably the greatest player feel like he doesn't have to do it all himself, makes City a terrifying proposition for all our opponents.
 
I like that things are unknown on Messi’s future, PSG playing at the game and talking up Messi to PSG helps strangely.

I don’t think an offer has gone to messi from city BUT we will have given a very clear indication of the sort of package we are willing to give, directly to him and his team under clear NDAs to protect both sides.

Knowing how our owners work this will be done calmly, professionally, and out of the news headlines until it’s completed (either way). And you know what if Messi decides to stay and work with Laporte then good too, we will have friends in Spain at last !!

Just trust the city leadership team to do the right thing; personally I think this summer will be good for city.
 
I’m not saying messi isn’t the greatest player to ever do it because he is and he’s my favourite player of all time after buster Phillips.

im saying bareclona are poor cos they’ve kept on to him to long and still given him everything he’s asked for when if they sold him 2/3 years ago and started rebuilding with fresh ideas instead of give it to Messi , they might be back challenging in the CL and for the league

Never judge players on international duty ,it tells you nothing about how they play for their clubs

Mate, Barca have spent £600m in the last three years signing overpriced hype and dross. They couldn't plan a picnic with Mary Poppins.

Totally. The closer it gets to summer, the more the speculation will ramp up.

Having stayed silent throughout, i struggle to believe it is a coincidence that we come out with the same response as the messi camp on the same day.

Either both are true and it IS a timing coincidence, or the messi camp are trying to control it before it snowballs and we are helping.

Mbappe and Haaland emerging will make him even more conscious of his legacy. He'll want to move to a club where he has a chance to win the CL one more time, and that club is not Barcelona.

Keeping up with this thread though, I honestly hope we sign him just to settle these debate.

I can see your point to some extent with those three but ask yourself this question, which of them gets into this City team?

It's a lot to place it all on Messi. It's also not his fault Barca mortgaged their entire future on his contract, he just signed it.
