I think you're right, but I'm also intrigued by who else we're trying to sign this summer. If Messi wants another chance at winning the Champions League and he thinks City is his best bet, he's got to be convinced we're going to have a strong enough squad to seriously challenge.

Anyone pretending their club wouldn't want him are just trying to convince themselves of that, but for me one of the biggest benefits to City if he signs, is his motivation to win major trophies and to even further cement his legacy. It's not the same scenario as a past it Mcmanaman coming to fund his retirement or one final pay day for George Weah. We would be getting the best player of his generation with a point to prove...

This is why I think the Martinez to City is also close

Didn’t Barca believe Martinez was theirs and Messi was happy for that

Add in Koulibaly

The reason clubs, including City, wouldn't want him, is if it was a 'normal' situation where Messi asks for a move & then clubs start bidding, his transfer fee then what he would ask in wages would be incredible.

But he's asked to sign for our club & will make it work re wages, so we are not in that situation.

Ha

I agree! But they'll never accept that so it's easier for them to say 'we don't want him!' Which is just laughable!

This guy seems to think he’s bottling it

”I cannot say much more and I am one of those who thought it was irreversible but from what they tell me, stay tuned tonight on the Messi issue. It seems that an unexpected turn of events is coming.”
