Another Matchroom loss. Full credit to Ava, not wanting to take anything away from him but Kelly started fading fast after the cut(Kelly's own fault for not defending himself well enough). Not just because of the bloodloss but he looked uncomfortable, burning up nervous energy, making more mistakes, looking at the referee and complaining. I called it the round before that he'd fade. He just did not know how to handle that situation in my opinion. I think Ava would still win a rematch after that too, Kelly is not ready.

Bad couple of weeks for Hearn but fair play, you can’t say he matches his moneymakers soft, at least not lately

Yep and he was totally fair with Ava after the fight too, rare you see a promoter take a loss well. Imagine Arum or Warren in that situation. I suppose there is a balance to be struck, yes they have to look after the fighters career but nobody wants to watch them against tomato cans all the time(the PBC ethos). Whyte vs Povetkin, Warrington vs Lara, Kelly vs Ava... all bad losses for the fighters themselves but they were interesting and entertaining fights, that's the business he's in.

Yeah the way Warren was with Joyce after his win didn't sit well with me. He is his fighter too, so it wasn't as if it was Hearn's guy he was being funny with. Such an awkward post match interview that.
I’ve seen him before and at very close quarters acting the twat when two of his own fighters compete for a title, he makes it pretty obvious which one he wants to win and Im pretty sure he makes it known to the officials as well

I think Hearns doing a good job with most of his fighters and testing them in recent months. The last 2 weeks were hard for his headliners but they need to be tested. I think both will learn loads from there loses and how well they come back will be good to see. I think Hearn might be waiting to get in a few lads from Team GB or Ireland after the Olympics to try and build up the new AJ so Hearn will have a cash cow for the next few years when AJ starts to go off in the sunset. Always love this time heading into a Olympics to see who will turn pro with a Gold medal in there pocket and see how good they go on to be or not in the ring.

I think Warrington wasn't expected to be tested much, he was 1/25 too. He may have learned from the fight but also took a lot of damage and has had lots of tough fights going the distance. His career is in the balance now.

Booth seems to have some fighters who are bigged up beyond their ability, even though he was marginal favourite due to the promotion and backing of the UK fans, it was too soon for him.

Im not sure Warrington will ever be the same. Fractured jaw and a perforated eardrum, that’s some beating to come back from at the age of 30

Booths a good trainer I like his fighters. Sadly for Booth its when his fighters gets in trouble its how they react Josh Kelly once hurt didnt know what to do how react and was pounced on. I think its the same with any undefeated fighter. But Kelly should learn from it. I think Kelly V Benn be a lovely fight to have at the end of this year see how both fighters are doing. Get a fight into both.
Trained some great lads to world titles in David Haye and Ryan Burnett and Andy Lee. Burnett sadly injuries cost him and retired way to young. Saying the he has Mick Conlan in his set up if Mick dont win a world title i be shocked. Gifted boxer.

Anybody going to be watching Berchelt vs Valdez later?
This was well worth a watch if you can find a replay or highlights. Oscar Valdez was the underdog because Berchelt is a bit of a knockout artist. But Eddy Reynoso got the tactics spot on and Valdez took him apart round by round until the knockout came, heavy one too.

I wonder what Eddy is going to do with Ruiz Jr, it depends as much on Ruiz I suppose. He was already in the HW top 10 for me(he beat Parker that night in NZ for the Vacant WBO on most peoples cards) but it's the discipline that lets him down, not the quality of coaches because he's had good coaches(Freddie Roach, Manny Robles).

I'm still interested in how that pans out, Wilder mentioned him as a possible opponent which would be a great matchup. However Wilder is leaving it so long to line up a fight that it will make it harder to come back the longer it takes to get back in the ring. Whyte, Povetkin, Parker 2, Ortiz(maybe not so much him because of his age and conditioning) all good fights for Ruiz though.
