The Conservative Party

I, a Cornish native, worked hard for Varfell for many years. As soon as the Eastern European workers came we were suddenly out of work. Dont believe the 'lazy locals' rubbish, who do you think used to do the farm work before they came? The truth is that greedy farmers can't claw back 70% of wages in static caravan rent from a local. A local has a life that precludes working 10/12 hour days under floodlights, which modern farms demand. A local doesn't have their passport held back until end of season. 'A daffodil picker should be respected' he says.....funny how us locals never got respected for all those decades we made profits for them. I've applied for scores of picking jobs since Covid and haven't been offered a single one, despite vast experience. Profiteering is one thing, but slandering your country-men to justify it is vile.

Capitalists eh. What are they like?

except it doesn't say "lazy locals" does it? The owner describes hard work in harsh conditions and says local recruits can only hack it for a couple of days before giving up. Thats not being lazy thats finding out a job is not for you. Say you got a job on an ice cream stall and after a couple of days you decided its not for you is that you being lazy or choosing not to do something that doesn't suit?
In any event thanks to the effects of Covid on tourism and Brexit on fishing Cornish unemployment rates are right up there - you would have thought people would be beating a path to his door to get 3 months paid work. I don't imagine getting soaked bending over cutting flowers is any more back breaking nor dryer than working on the deck of a trawler.
There is a reason why all this work went to EU workers who came over to do it for a season - the locals had better paid easier jobs to do that they preferred. All over rural England this will happen as crops go unharvested because of a lack of pickers.

I've copied a response on the comments section

Capitalists justify it by profit accrued. They don't give two fucks for the community or the people, profit is more important.

If they portray you as lazy as Patel, Truss and Raab did in their book "Britannia unchained" it is because they want capitalists to profit and they care not a fuck who suffers. They then make sure the Eastern Europeans get the blame so that people like yourself do not take it out on the capitalists.

I ‘Liked’ but then had to ‘Unlike’ as I didn’t want to be seen to liking a gross and disgusting depiction. Also, it’s not quite there for me as the guys on the left and right aren’t fighting over a ’Crumb’, what the guy in the centre wants.

A full biscuit, you must be joking.

Hard truth is, vast majority of the country is doing well under a Tory Goverment , employment and wages are high and will increase after the pandemic. If that’s the case then the simple fact is the Tories will remain in power, voters may be disgruntled at their handling throughout this pandemic, the dodgy contracts to their budddys, the wasted billions on track and trace, voting against free meals for kids etc. The list is endless.

But for most folk, in a decent job and paying a comfortable mortgage. As long as they’re doing alright , they’re not going to risk changing course.

Sad to say that you are probably correct.

Not sure it is as rosy a picture as you suggest. We will have to see how things are when we come out of lockdown but the evidence suggests that we are doing far worse as a country than our peers economically. There will of course be a bounce and the tories will no doubt make as much political capital out of it as they can. But brexit and the general incompetence of our government has definitley set us back. Fishing a prime example - all those in the fishing industry can now see brexit for what it was. And there is nothing on the cards to help the red wall seat that turned to the tories to help 'get brext done'.

Voting Tory then is a sign of a singular lack of ambition in making the country better.

That is possibly the best description of why the Tories stay in power I have seen for a long time. The people of the UK lack the ambition to want better, they are happy to muddle along. Its no wonder good old British Stoicism is seen as a virtue. As long as the people are stoic, they pose no threat to the capitalist hegemony.

Come up to Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Newcastle and other areas of both the North East and North West and see if you can make that argument.

A friend of mine tried to kill himself because they've not only destroyed his work, also his community with false promises. They took their vote and fucked them off.

Southern Tory councils funding has risen, Northern ones (mine is Tory controlled) have been cut forcing them into big council tax rises to cover the losses with many people unable to afford it.

Thatcher calculated that you put more people in homes they had bought increased the Tory vote. And it worked for her.
This lot seem hell bent on pissing on natural Tory voters such is the contempt they hold them in.

Meghan is the new Obama for our r/w media ............. can't work out exactly what it is they have in common.......hmmmmmm
I wonder, is it because they are American....nah, they like Trump, is it because they are both bright, nah, cant be that, Ermmmm...There must be something they have in common.

It will come to me.
