i buy mine from the usa 5000iu got a great deal on 18 months supply a 1000iu will not get your vit d blood levels to where they should be
Are you suggesting every doctor in the world practically who advises nothing like the huge doses being touted in some places on line to 'beat' Covid but who administer this to the over 60s each Winter are unqualified to judge what really works?

Happily I trust my GP so am limiting myself to around 1500 a day after talking to her on whether I should up the dose in lockdown.

I have long been aware of the advantages in winter especially not because some meme has taken off on the internet that is no doubt making a fortune for drug companies by complete coincidence.

Probably will not do much damage except to your pocket here - might conceivably help a bit - but the principle of DIY treatment on internet advice bothers me as this is what has led to people dying because they were scared off the 'ineffective' AZ vaccine. And would wait for better ones.

In some cases that will never have arrived before they got sick.

The older you get the less you trust some guy on the net over the people who look after your health personally and have with full information about what else you take or other factors that no internet guru will do.

Dr john Campbell on YouTube performed a blood test to check hes vit d levels, hes been taking 2000/3000iu since march. He found that he's vit d blood levels was insufficient. Hope this helps.

be interesting to see what the schedule is for the rest of the population from April 16 - will they categorise this by age or a free for all?

Currently feel like I've been hit by a train. The standard response to the Pfizer 1st jab for those who were previously ill with Covid-19.

On the subject of Vit D . I get my vitamins from Natures Health and the strongest one they do and I take is Vit D Super strength 1000iu . So is there a stronger one out there or are you take 4 of these ?
Mine are 4000iu per tablet from Howard and James.

I read it and that's why I talked to my doctor.

It is anybody's choice to listen to someone on the internet or to your own GP.

And as I said in my post in this instance I doubt a high Vit D dose will do much harm and might even help a bit.

But the principle of trusting the internet for medical advice and not your own doctor worries me during this pandemic as it is growing in strength and can be dangerous and in things like the vaccination choices is unquestionably going to cost lives.

Zoe App today is predicting a fall of 139 on yesterday at 9545.

It was about 300 low on yesterdays numbers so we will see how successful it is today

Wales data:

21 deaths - was 14 last week

312 cases - was 290 last week

2.9 % Positivity - was 3.1%

Weekly Pop Score - 75 - down from 76 yesterday and 84 last week

So although deaths are 50% up wk to wk which is a concern and cases up slightly the other measures are down.

Wales vaccination update

889, 270 first doses given - 10, 764 yesterday - up from 8853 yesterday - was 15, 282 last Thursday

69, 851 second doses given - 10, 572 yesterday - up from 9550 yesterday - was 6354 last Thursday

So wales week to week did very similar numbers around 21.5K - with the balance shifting to more like 50/50 first doses (mainly AZ) and second doses (mainly Pfizer).

Indeed as of mid Feb the split across all 4 nations according to Gov UK was (first doses only)

8.3 million Pfizer jabs and and 6.9 million AZ.

Though with the hiatus in Pfizer supply in past week or two that by now is likely closer to 50/50.

You can be refused entry to a pub/club for loads of different reasons from clothes to just your face not fitting. Potentially carrying a deadly virus seems like a decent reason for refusal to me.

Said it for awhile now that passports/certificates will come into play. They will be the carrot to get high uptake of the vaccine in the younger less vulnerable demographics imo.
Being admitted and served in a pub is entirely up to the landlords discretion. He does not have to give a reason especially if you're in the company of someone wearing a dipper or rag shirt

I’m surprised at how many Pfizer shots have been administered compared to AZ as I thought there would have been far more AZ. When do we start to receive supplies of the Moderna vaccine as the UK signed a contract before the EU (just) but they have received Moderna whereas we haven’t yet.

In the latest weekly Pop Score table for the English regions ALL south of Birmingham are now sub 100. And all Midlands and North are above.

Table: (Lowest Pop Score the better - going up bad / going down good - the more the better)

Region Weekly Pop yesterday // Last Wk // Change (all going down by %)

East Midlands 174 // 190 // 8%

West Midlands 160 // 189 // 15%

North West 156 // 184 // 15%

Yorkshire 154 // 156 // 2%

North East 150 // 169 // 11%

East 98 // 124 // 21%

London 84 // 118 // 29%

South East 82 // 103 // 20%

South West 72 // 97 // 25%

Pfizer was approved several weeks before AZ remember so was the only one in most of December. AZ has been catching it fast and (as these figures are about a week old) is quite possibly ahead now given the current shortage of Pfizer so nearly all going on 2 nd doses until the Belgian factory is refitted.

True but up until January we had only dished out around a million shots so I’m still surprised tbh. In some ways it’s a pleasant surprise as it means that we have been getting more Pfizer than expected so when they have rejigged the plant in Belgium then hopefully we will get even more.

Towards the end of next month we need much more supply of all vaccines as the numbers of required second shots will increase rapidly week on week. Ideally we will need to be doing around 6 million a week to keep up the rate of first shots.

Scotland data:

31 deaths - was 57 last week

769 cases - was 685 last week

3.7% positivity - was 3.8% last week

967 patients (down 51 on yesterday and sub 1000 happily) - was 1261 last week - so a near 25% drop in week

Ventilated icu 89 - down 4 on yesterday - was 95 last week.

Scotland vaccination update:

1, 515, 980 first doses given - 27, 903 yesterday - was 22, 836 day before and 34, 892 last Thursday

56, 661 second doses given - 6540 yesterday - 6918 day before and 3760 last Thursday

One third of all adults in Scotland had one dose.

Near 100% of all the top 4 groups.

85% of those aged 65 - 69.

On target to reach by 15 April the remaining vulnerable groups.

probably a stupid question but on second does of the jabs, are you only getting the same jab as the first? Or are they mixing them? I've took a few people for their first jabs so far, but they have just obviously been given whatever that centre had in at the time
