Wales data:

16 deaths - was 16 last week

198 cases - was 363 last week

1.7% positivity - was 6.5% last week

Weekly Pop Score 72 - down from 75 yesterday and 83 last week.

That must be one of the lowest case totals and positivity rating in months.

Wales vaccination update:

916, 336 first doses - 14, 002 yesterday - up from 13, 064 day before - was 14, 839 last week

89, 053 second doses - 8991 yesterday down from 10, 211 day before - was 6569 last week

Great for pubs and concerts.
Useless for getting on a flight though.
There will have to be an internationally agreed method.

Anyone in here had long covid and the vaccine? There are reports from doctors it seems that they are seeing patients who have struggled for months post covid with the now familiar long term issues finding symptoms clearing after the vaccination. Excellent news if this proves widespread.

Was just discussing that with Mrs Moon this morning.

One of my lads is still suffering from having it in March, he picked up a virus over Xmas and it's still not cleared has had a month+ off work with it.

England hospital deaths 257 - was 307 last week. Another 40 or so over a month old though.

NW 40 - much better. Though still comparatively high

The over 80s proportion of the deaths today btw was the highest in some time and first well over 50%

20 - 39 (3) 1.1%

40 - 59 (21) 8.2%

60 - 79 (100) 38.9%

80 PLUS (133) 51.8%

Not a drastic change but still the most over 50% in a week or two.

England hospital deaths by region:

73 Midlands, 43 East, 40 North West, 31 NE & Yorkshire, 28 South West, 27 South East, 15 London

23 deaths in Leicester the highest. 17 in West Hertfordshire next. 6 in Liverpool and 6 in East Lancashire most in NW

England hospital deaths week to week

681 / 88 NW / 13%

571 / 64 NW / 11%

436 / 56 NW / 13%

307 / 59 NW / 19%

257 / 40 NW / 16% TODAY

As you can see the numbers have fallen slowly on this day week to week partly I suspect as it is Friday data and they do audits of older cases at week end.

But the fall has slowed in the past few days. Just as the fall in cases has. Partly inevitable when at lower and lower numbers but still needs watching.

Only 179 of those 257 occurred in the past 7 days.

Scotland data:

18 deaths - was 29 last week

525 cases - was 803 last week

3.1% positivity - was 4.6% last week

898 patients - down 26 in day - was 1154 last week

74 ventilator icu - down 6 in day - was 102 last week.

Another excellent day here on all measures.

As you've noted before the impact of audits placing deaths in the worst months (January) really skew reported deaths now we're thankfully at lower levels.

23 deaths reported at Leicester Hospitals alone today, almost certainly some backlog there but Leicester has been hit hard and cases continue to be at high levels across the east Midlands from North Warwicks to south Lincs.

Scotland vaccination data:

1, 570, 153 first doses- 27, 224 yesterday - was 26, 949 day before and 26, 491 last week

72, 178 second doses - 6838 yesterday - was 8679 day before and 4458 last week

Good to see the Jocks below 900 cases

Yes the regional pop data I posted earlier today shows the problems in the two midlands regions and an increase in Yorkshire. North West is starting to look better compared with them in cases and that will inevitably with time reduce the deaths.

I wonder if the high ethnic population in places like Leicester and Birmingham will be seeing a lower uptake in vaccinations which could start to skew the data too.

Northern Ireland data:

2 deaths - was 3 last week

184 cases - was 276 last week

13.8% positivity - was 16.2% last week

Rolling 7 day cases total 1690 - was 1797 yesterday and 2070 last week

28 Care home outbreaks - same as yesterday - was 47 last week

307 patients - down 28 on yesterday - was 392 last week

31 ventilated - up 2 in day - was 42 last week

More good data
