So we’ve heard today the Vaccine works against the new variant, infection rate has dropped and the R number is now below 1

... but everyone saying we’re gonna be in lockdown longer than April

Yes because the NHS is under very serious strain, that's going to take weeks at least to control, and we need to get it down far enough that the NHS can do other stuff, and keep it there.

I completely agree. Absolute wankers. Shopping is the only place I go and whole families in there as you say.

And if I see another one in there with a mask under their nose I think ill put my can of diet Pepsi through their face.
Really annoyed me today....mum, dad, young teen kid and gran all with masks under their noses.

I'm far from a mask nazi or for restricting people's freedoms but I'm getting sick of feckless selfish people. This country is full of them, the "I'll do what I want!" Brigade and " No one tells me what to do!"That's probably because since they were born nobody has, so unless they are forced kicking and screaming to just be less selfish for an hour, they won't.

I haven't I'm afraid, I don't read articles from random people, what's his claim to fame ?
Human progress through productivity increases was doomed because population growth would follow leading to famine and plague

I really don’t know how they are a distributing the vaccine, my wife had hers yesterday, she’s back room staff in the NHS, not frontline, in fact her whole office has had it. Now whilst I’m happy, she has diabetes so in high risk category that was not why she received it. I have not even been considered and I’m frontline, it seems who you know.

At about £2,000 a week everyone will be wanting to book a week away at the seaside it will be bedlam mate
Book now, I have, cottage for 3, Devon in august, £950. Can’t complain at that and just hope the ‘British weather’ doesn’t let me down!!

Avoidable how exactly
Well maybe locking down earlier back in March when we had perfect hindsight what was coming across from Italy and Spain.
Oh and not having a covid Xmas shopping blow out in December especially when we knew about a new strain and cases and deaths were rising.
Oh and listening to the scientists back in September instead of Rishi Sunak and the Great Barrington nutters who (the scientists) were advising lockdown when we had the hindsight of numbers rising.
