I don't think that's what was happening at all, put away the tin foil.

They wanted him to take some credit and expand more upon the team's success, and Jackson's funny "Could I manage this side" question amused Pep enough to make him speak for 5 or 6 minutes about it and gave us some great answers and a really good insight into how Pep's feeling.

He's a dickhead but his line of questioning was good and he got Pep to open up.
