Just up on the Telegraph.

Johnson & Johnson single shot vaccine about to be submitted for MHRA approval. Based on Pfizer & AZ that takes around two weeks. 30 million doses ordered.

This could be perfectly timed and strategically, it would make sense to give out the second doses to those that are due them using the AZ / Pfizer stocks and the next tranche of 'younger' people due a vaccine could have the single shot which would take away the concerns about the younger citizens will be stuck waiting for a second shot weeks and months into the future before being allowed to travel etc.

Exactly. I reckon by the end of March we should have done all over 50s and the vulnerable 16-60s who want to be vaccinated and many areas will be deep into the 40-49 group. If the Johnson & Johnson vaccine then becomes an option I can see a large proportion of say under 30s getting it.

This is a bold prediction but I'm convinced the entire population will be fully done by June.

For people who can’t be arsed clicking the link, whats it about?
It's simply a pass that kids update after a Covid test and answer a few health questions (I guess it asks have they had a cough, temperature, etc) and the pass is electronically updated and shown and scanned when the kids enter school, nothing sinister, at the end it lists about 9 partners involved in the scheme including Microsoft.

All over 50s eligible in Salford now and my wife, also 55, is booked in on Monday. All over 50s nationally who wants one will be done before the end of March. Areas that are steaming ahead like Salford will be well into the 40-49 group before second shots really kick in. March is going to be a big month for numbers and I can see 16 million plus shots being delivered.

By April we should be getting more Pfizer, the first supplies of Moderna and possibly even the Johnson & Johnson single shot vaccine too. I'm very bullish on this but the two things the government have got absolutely right now are the test and trace set up and the vaccination roll out. People can criticise many aspects of policy during the course of the pandemic but right now we are doing all the right things and we will be on the other side by summer.
That Salford flyer was very odd. Contradictory. Good luck with it though. If I lived in Salford I'd be on it too. Nationally criteria are groups 1-7 i.e. 60 and above.

This is not a political problem it's a logistical problem. What shocks me is the ineptitude and lack of social cohesion in countries like France. The Astrazeneca vaccine is an absolute fiasco. This may become a problem for us. It's unclear how big a threat the variants are but people who are tracking them, and if we need a 2nd vaccine, how can you develop one if you don't know what the virus will look like. Moderna have developed one but it would be stupid to launch that until we are in the mopping up stage.

Going to etihad for my jab today, can you take someone with you, got my son with me.
Same advice as always, ensure you have paracetamol on hand for tomorrow and if you work plan accordingly just in case you are a little under the weather. Some get no symptoms others do, good luck.

No, I used the link that you sent. Thanks again, otherwise I wouldn't have known anything about it.
My wife and I had Chromebook/iPad synchronised and booked together 10 minutes apart.

I guess Salford must be working their way through the lists efficiently to open it up to all over-50s.

Another tip. Although the appointment times seem very specific (mine was 11.14) they are just to provide a steady stream of people over the day so when you and your wife go just check in together before the earlier time. Obviously they'll have people arriving early, others will be late and there will be no shows. At Clarendon I was leaving after being done a couple of minutes before my appointment time.

It's not a scam or queue jumping Marvin as my wife has received her letter but she had already booked. Various friends received their texts from Thursday onwards. Salford is officially doing the over 50s now presumably because they have nearly done everyone in the higher priority groups, they have the supply and they don't want centres standing idle.

There are reports of some areas already doing under 50s who have no vulnerabilities and that is great news.

Sadly its wrong. 1st vaccinations will drop off quite a lot over the next 2 weeks as 2nd vaccines become the dominant numbers.
Of course vaccination numbers could now increase to cover 2nd vaccinations but I don't think so.

Well, the others you need 3 Vacs including the Autumn one, Johnston Vac just the one injection which is better for your body and system.I have read up on it and it's the one for me.
Why will it not need an Autumn boost adapted for variants ? So only difference is wait one whenever it happens to be offered to you, who knows if and when it will, instead of 1 shot now one in 10 weeks. Can’t see why it would matter to anyone, haven’t seen anybody say it’s better for you. I’d sooner just get one as quick as possible, whichever one.
