The Plaza was great, the only place you get a meal at 3am. A normal routine for us afterwards was to get a taxi to the Showbar in Whalley Range. It was an all-night shabeen run by Phil Lynott's (Thin Lizzy) mum Philomena...the only place you could drink till 7am and sometimes later!

Fuck me that brings back some memories after a night out in place mate 7 the hottest I had was vindaloo couldn't feel me tongue for hours after

I remember that place very well!

Place mates, Rotters, Thursdays, Brewsters, Mike Shaft DJ at The Gallery.
Early 80's were mint for me.

My memory might be hazy but I'm sure there was a place on Great Western St early 80's like the Plaza. I think it was called Johnnies and had a similar menu. Mild, Medium, Hot, Johnny Special and one life threatening curry named Call the ambulance.

Many an early morning spent in there under the glare of the strip lights and the yellow Formica tables. A half byriani to cope with the munchies while the taxi radio next door was on full blast. Great memories of Manchester in the 80s.. that and a blob at Yates’s earlier in the evening.

The very thought of eating a suicide curry terrifies me. I have IBS and one time I was stupid enough to try making and eating a vindaloo. It took four glasses of milk and half a tub of raita to get the thing down. Never doing that again. Has anyone had the Goodbye You Have Been Warned?

Ahem. As you were.
Thanks for sharing.

I think that place was The Palace. It was better than the Plaza but Great Western Street was no place for the faint-hearted at 3am in those days.

Rashford has been injured for a while now so i read. A cynical man would say his pr team are very good. Even if he was injured how does it explain him having the same issues in his game that have always been prevelent?

I hope he stays with them for years though as he is severly limited, needs space on the counter to run and have defenders out of position. Almost every other aspect of his game is lacking, even when he gets a run on goal he messes it up most of the time. Does not press or track back effectively, never passes when he should, shoots when he should not etc. He gets a cross in once every few games, that's it. Utter liability of a player that i can see.

Would be interested to hear what many of his team mates really think about him, especially Shaw. You could write a book on all Rashford's faults. I just think he does not have the skillset or football brain to play at a high level. Long may he continue to just walk about with a face like a slapped arse! I would not want him at City if he was free on no wage.

Ole playing down their title chances now as well. Trying to soften the blow for summer spending not being at the level they will need etc. They are just full of excuses, we laugh at Klopp for them but utd are no less cringe inducing with what comes out of their camp.

Must be an eye injury seeing as he can't stay onside or hit a barn door.

It's what Rashford does off the pitch that is keeping his name in the public's conscious, but that's exactly how it's always been with the rags. The oxygen of publicity is what keeps the club going.
I have always thought Beckscum was arguably the single most overrated player in the history of English football. But his craving for publicity is what has made him a household name, not his footballing skills.
The same with Rashford, I do not see a good player in him, never have done. He is a typical rag product: over-hyped and placed on a pedestal by the tabloid press. The odd flash of talent now and again does not a good player make.

We all know what it''s like with the rags: a player comes up through the ranks and makes his Premier league debut. That night on MotD the studio is awash with gallons of semen. Lineker, Shearer, and whoever else are waxing lyrical over this 'fantastic, genius who will go on to be one of the games' biggest stars' blah blah blah...Within 18 months he's playing for whoever Steve Bruce is managing at the time. Then it's back on the merry-go-round for another rag academy player who is 'taking the world by storm'.

The rags today are a bland and vacuous product churning out money for the Glazers. They haven't been about football for as long as I can remember: as artificial as those dreadful American soaps of the 80's - all shoulder pads and lip gloss.

Fuck that for a sport.

Don't remember Johnnies but how about The Conti Club?

Football focus rimming the scum on BBC
Felt a bit sorry for Football Forus, didn't seem to have any City goals against Utd to show , but plenty of Utd scoring against us (even the Rooney overhead kick, what's that about 10/11 years ago now) !

Many United fans would agree with your summary.
Has slightly improved, but so many negatives to his game.
But let's not get to loud , we need him in the first team for another 5 years.
