United (H) Post Match Thread

That first 2 minutes shows how sometimes in important games we lose our heads. 5 defenders around that diver yet Jesus is charging around like an headless chicken. Why is he anywhere near the penalty area. Also Sterling is constantly missing sitters, if he can't put the ball in the net from 5 yards then keep him out of them positions and further wide. Better he create them chances for someone who can put them in the net from 5 yards.
I said that at the time. Jesus should have been nowhere near our area. Martial was surrounded by defenders .. he was going nowhere. Absolutely fucking idiotic by Jesus

That penalty changed everything. It rattled us and we never really recovered our composure. After 10 minutes or so at 0-0 we would probably have settled down and started to play our normal game

If we could take our chances then perhaps your points above could have been negated, not being clinical and ruthless in front of goal along with the team selection as you mention has really cost us. Too many players had a bad game today, we lacked energy and pace in transitions which is what Phil and Bernie give us. The formation we had reminded me so much of the early part of this season.

That’s nothing new though. We can look at all of our biggest losses/poor results under Pep and we will have missed sitters in those games.

What do you expect though when our front three are Jesus, Sterling and Mahrez. I’ve nothing against them and thing they’re all good players. But not of them are clinical or leaders.

I think the fact that if we were in a penalty shoot out I wouldn’t want any of those three to take a penalty sums it up.

In my opinion, a title race is back on. Everyone is pretending to it isnt, but we just left that crack open, and that infuriates me.

If we don't win the next match, suddenly doubts starts to creep in. I think we'll still win the league. But we may have a race now :(

The pundits are pretending there isn't a race coz they don't want to jinx it. But deep down you know they are just hoping :(

simply a bad day at the office,it doesnt matter how good you are you are going to get them and they will always happen,it reflects bad because we have not been beat for weeks on end and ofcourse its man united, we play that game again tomorrow night we would win,,so we move on its in the history books now and thats beyond our controll

I am not that bothered what happens now, our manager has let the fans down.
Fuck off! Our manager has brought BY FAR the best football we have ever seen, and still likely the 3rd title in 4 years!
I'd build a statue for Pep now. Absolute City legend, and one poor result will not change that. He got nothing wrong today, the players let him down (e.g. de Bruyne)

Losing to the rags like that is unacceptable. Totally unacceptable
I think that's the point people are missing. We can put an abject performance in now and then against anyone, but against them lot it hurts more!! Especially after seeing how good we can be on this 21 game unbeaten run and how poor they can be against the likes of West Brom and Crystal Palace.!!

I don’t. I can’t see them beating the teams they should let alone Spurs, Leicester, West Ham or even Liverpool. 11 point is loads when you don’t get a say in it. They will basically need to win every game whilst playing Thursday nights.

I expect us to drop points.. especially near the end of the season but I think the gap will remain largely the same.

Absolutely shocking.

Rodri, Gundogan, Bernardo, Foden, Jesus and Sterling literally put us in this position. They have put us ahead in the league by a ridiculous amount of points.

We were genuinely in a position where we could keep playing that team and look to sweep it all but we have to fuck it all up and immediately force De Bruyne back in to the team and constantly favour Riyad fucking Mahrez’s ego.

I’m happy to say it, De Bruyne is a fucking problem. He’s an individual, and he actually makes Gundogan worse.

Team has gone from looking like a hurricane that can destroy anyone 5,6 or 7 nil to looking flat, turgid, absolutely shite. Just like the start of the season when, shock-horror, the personnel was the same.

We’re throwing away the chance of greatness, and we’ll stumble to the premier league title. All to favour a couple of egos. All self inflicted. It’s going to be a laughable wet fart end of a season compared to what could have been.

Didn’t even force a single good chance. Said in the pre-match thread;

Must play Bernardo, he fucking hates rags and dippers and plays like 10 men.

I don’t care what Pep has done or won, you have to be thick to not have fucking seen it.

Fucking embarrassing what this Gollum **** has done to us.
One of the worst posts I can remember. We lost one game and the team is flat and turgid? Mahrez was MotM in City's last game.

It definitely is on. We will drop points due to CL and FA Cup.

I think people need to remember the 90's here.

We have the best squad by far, 11 points clear, likely to win 3rd title in 4 years.

When Dickov scored that equaliser in 99 did you ever believe we would be here 15-20 years later?

United won, so fucking what! They are still a long way behind us.

On Pep that.....another of his infrequent but famous brain farts.

The team selection was wrong from the start, and im not convinced he understands what the Derby means.....you play your best players in your best 11.

Anyway.....on a positive, hopefully its treated as a wake up call for the CL.
This.
Sums it up perfectly -'infrequent but famous brain fart' wrong selections for big games.
Liverpool (away) twice in previous years (CL and league), Lyon and today's game.
Pacy and fast players like Fern,Walker,Foden should have been nailed on selections today. Also bernardo instead of kdb who is not his normal self and would have been a better choice for the Southampton game.
