Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

If Britain and Ireland ended up with the 2030 World Cup after the 2024 vote, am I right in thinking that we could apply for funding to develop the stadium if it was chosen as one of the host venues?

Can’t see many clubs turning their noses up at that if they had the choice to develop now or wait 3-4 more years.
There are 2 major football stadiums close to/in Manchester. Which one do you honestly think will be chosen, given that it's in dire need of refurbishment/being razed to the ground?

Very weird attitude in a thread about building work.

The Etihad will be on there just as it was for the 2018 bid, especially with an expanded World Cup coming into play.

My point was - if it comes to a choice to give funding towards the Etihad or the swamp, where do you think the money will go? (It was a poor/cynical attempt at humour :-))

Kevin Murray, senior acquisition manager at Premier Inn’s parent Whitbread, told Place North West: “Manchester is an extremely important, popular and thriving market for both business and leisure Premier Inn guests.

“We are continuing to search for new opportunities across the city including in the Northern Quarter, where we are looking for a suitable site for a Premier Inn or Hub by Premier Inn in the Piccadilly area, and to the east of the city at Eastland’s near Manchester City’s football ground.

Not underwhelming for those of us needing hotels a bit more affordable to stay in when we come down for games. Sure there will eventually be more up market options too once the arena is up and running.
I am sure it will be the first of many.

With the concert venue construction and hopefully soon the announcement of further stadium expansion, more exciting times ahead.

There’s no indication it will be on the Etihad Campus. If City were involved with PI it wouldn’t be out in the public domain yet. There are plenty of brown fields sites across East Manchester and Beswick for the PI Hotel to go on. My guess is the Hotel will be close to the stadium and Arena, but won’t be on the Etihad Campus. I could be wrong though. It’s fair to say City could tempt numerous Hotel chains with a site on the Etihad Campus, close to the stadium and the arena. Sheikh Mansour could fund the Hotel himself via the club. That’s allowed by FFP.

Potential income and allowable FFP benefits should be huge when the Campus is fully developed.

As we are an 80% leaseholder for the new arena we will benefit from 80% of the rent alone. That must be a tidy sum.

There is a Hilton Hotel built into the FA’s St George’s Park complex near Burton, does a lot of business

That would save my normal after match trip to Premier Inn Denton. A nice new PI near the campus would be brilliant as long as it had parking facilities.

There's quite a bit of site clearance working taking place on both sides of Ten Acre Lane, just a short walk from the stadium. Any thoughts on what is going on. Not been on SSC for a while, I presume there might be some explanation on there

when they built the Hydro arena in Glasgow it didn't take long before there were five or six hotels within a few minutes walk, all with bars. It will be brilliant when the Etihad is as well served.
