Are we really "the best team in the world" right now?

every generation has a "goat", be it football, boxing, cricket rugby etc. Spurs double winners with it's give and go, Barca, RM, dippers rags chelsea have had dominant periods, Brazil, Holland, and other national teams have done the same. Which brings up the "best team, or best to watch". Holland for me were the best to watch, but missed out on the big one, Germany never were great to watch but won often, Pep's Barca played some fantastic football but often bored me with too much tiki-taka.
Like all these discussions, there is no winners, just endless opinions. This season, City are genuine contenders for best team in the world, I'll settle for that
 
We arent the best in England until we are handed the trophy. Liverpool at full strength have our number, we need to beat Bayern too.

Let's not get carried away. We beat most teams at our ease and cracks arent exposed. Lets see how our full backs cope when we don't have 70% possession and wingers are flying at them all day

Not yet - we need to win trophies this year before we can even claim to be the best in this country, then a European title etc etc

We are playing very well but that means nothing till the end of season review
 
No, because teams like the Rags can still beat us on the day.

We'd have won 26 games on the run, set a new consecutive winning record, and wrapped up the PL title, if we hadn't lost to that at times bang average United team.

Like blowing that 2 goal, half-time, title winning lead against the Rags at the Etihad, losing 0-2 to United and not getting the record consecutive winning record will always grate.

Great teams lose, it happens, the response has been emphatic. That loss stings them and could be the best thing that happened in the wider context
 
I don't know about the best..But one thing is that as long as Pep is here we will always be in contention for the best team in the world, fighting for all trophies and that is more than good enough for me. The man makes us run like smooth machine..and does it year after year. Hopefully he stays 10 more years with us...
 
You are the best if you beat the best. Untill now we only managed a CL semi final under Pellegrini, so long way to go...

Liverpool a year ago might’ve had our number, but that definitely isn’t the case now.

When you say Liverpool at full strength have our number, well they were at full strength when Mahrez blazed that penalty over the bar in 2018.

Again at full strength when 7 points clear in January 2019, we score first through Aguero, they equalise through Firmino, then we get the winner through Leroy, we cut the lead to 4 points, and go on to win the league by a point.

If all this is Liverpool having our number when they have no injuries, well good luck with that.

They didn’t even have our number a year ago mate, that poster talks shite, we should of beaten Liverpool at Anfield in 2018, but for a Mahrez missed penalty.

Then we were all at the Etihad, when City beat the dippers 2-1, Leroy scoring the winner.

In both occasions Liverpool had a full strength team, VVD played both games, makes me mad when some talk City down.

Maybe don't be so precious and you won't get so mad. Take all the petty bullshit away and for 18 months Liverpool were an exceptional football team and a ferocious opponent for City. I think for 12 of those 18 months they were better than us, definitely last season, but we were without Aymeric. A bit like them without VVD.

Still wouldn't want them in a champions league final. Klopp has something on Pep. At Dortmund and now in the Premier League. Thats just fact

We’ve improved so much defensively since that time whilst Liverpool were and still are a one trick pony which many teams are wise to now.
Imo they need to bring in 4/5 top quality players to compete with us next season and I really can’t see that happening.
 
Not yet I’m afraid. If we win the league only, this season will be remembered for the great football, signing Dias, foden’s emergence and the winning run. Most blues will be happy with the league myself included. If we are to be considered great we need the champions league. We have yet to dominate Europe like we have dominated England.

We have a great chance, hopefully this is the year we lift big ears.
